Out of all the online, KZbin golf instruction, malaska is the easiest to understand and you see immediate results. I may not be doing it 100% correct but I'm not sore after a round and my gir and fairways have improved greatly!!

at 5:20 the short answer is given. On back swing, right hip goes back and left hip does not swing forward, but does slide right a little. On downswing, left hip goes up and back while right hip swings forward. This prevents early extension. To me, my error in thinking was that on both backswing and downswing I was rotating around the center of the pelvis. Now it is more like on backswing my right hip pivots around the left hip, and on downswing both hips pivot around the center of the pelvis. IS THAT RIGHT? Thanks!

4:04 to 4:18 is gold. I just did that 👆. Today Aug25th finally had eureka moment of lower body. As soon as take away occurs, I'm moving force to the left leg like a pedal gas. When I'm almost completing back swing (with my right hip out of the way) I hit the gas pedal 👉push back (feel my left hip out of the way ) and my arms and hands goes down and club head out. Eureka! Hitting effortlessly Pw 150yrd, 45°flying high balls with that punch👊 like the pro's. 🥳🥳🥳.

How do the step drills that Dr. Kwon teaches work with the Malaska method. Do you feel these work well together? Mike and Brandon you have a way of reallly making sense of the golf swing. Can't wait until the snow clears to try this out. In the mean time I'm really enjoying the videos and drills. Thank you both!

Great video! More "ah ha" moments for me:) For long irons and the driver, I move my right foot back about and inch(closing my stance) after I line up. It allows me to rotate back with less effort. If I don't do that, my rotation back leaves the club higher and there is a tendency to have a strong fade or slice instead of a straight hit. For me, that seems more effortless in the backswing. Thank you guys for the videos:) Love em!

Yeah those British accents with golf clubs in their hands it's just not working for me. I know everyone says if you sound so much smarter and sharper with a British accent have a British accent. But when it comes to KZbin golf lessons It doesn't work. Keep up the good work. God Save the Queen and America

OMG! @3:10+ This is one of those real light bulb, life-changing, almost spiritual-like revelation moments. My 'rotation' has always been based on rotating around my spine/pelvis where my trail hip goes back AND my lead hip moves forward (and my left knee collapses in toward the right instead of moving slightly forward). The the reverses happens in the downswing - exactly as Mike describes @5:30. No one else has every explained this clearly and no coach has ever picked up on this during lessons. I am totally gobsmacked, and very excited about how this is going to elevate my swing to the next level. Thanks B for bringing this gem to our attention and Mike for sharing his expertise and insights.

Hi Mike My friend introduced me to your videos and I haven't looked back since. Your approach to golf is really so practical and to me logical that you present it more so as not a golf swing but a human movement fundamentality, and to me this resonated. Since watching your videos and Milo's it has changed my approach to how the golf swing works. But my problem is that my friend Andrew, is struggling to remove a major problem on his downswing that creates a block and a hook and predominately low shots . He is a really good striker of the ball but his downswing is more like the leaning tower of Pisa, sometimes up to 6 degrees inside ball path, and up to -4 degree attack angle on all golf shots. I know,, and he does too that this movement creates this outcome (that he is so desperately trying correct), but he struggles to understand how to produce the correct weight shift to the left leg without sliding too far. I understand his struggle as I myself struggled with early extension but after watching your videos and Milo's have come understand my major floor in my swing. I have tried several ways and numerous outings on the range, talked at length of all the fundamentals at play, such as the forces , the weight shift, the hip rotation , etc,. I know, without seeing his swing it is difficult to help, but I am running out of ideas. If you could help I would be so greatly appreciated. Regards Shaun

Btw. What would also help if people get control of their upperbody ie. Stomach muscles and core. It will allow you to actively keep upper body down. Especially in first part of downswing. After impact it doesn’t matter. For some people tha might help because if you do so, then your legs have to move out of the way. You will suprised when you film yourself and see your hips go out of the way. It is a slightly different approach. But you need to decide whether it gives result.

Excellent, never thought about and felt that left hip not moving out before, especially as my tush line is still OK if it does. Needs to be offset by having the weight more on the toes and/or having more forward bend when doing that though.

Great video! In this past season after recovering from rotator cuff surgery, I've been fitted with new irons and worked on mobility/strength exercises. The real game changer was drilling with the "Malaska move"! I've found more greens in regulation and taken more "closest to the pin skins", since modeling the move. The compression and sound, not to mention ball flight and distance convey that this is no aberration! While this should be consistent with all clubs, I'm still forcing it with my driver and 3 wood. Old habits die hard but when using the "move", I note a jump of club head speed on my Mevo! Thank you for your efforts to illustrate the most efficient way to use these tools! Regards, Mike D.

5:33 is gold!! When I saw Mike explain this in his videos, I knew it’s what I needed to fix, but these details weren’t as clear to me until he explains and demonstrated that the left hip actually moves laterally. I tried restricting the left hip and had some success, but the more I continued restricting the left hip, the more tension I developed in my swing. Thus ruining the benefit of not moving the lead hip forward in the back swing, because I wasn’t allowing it to move laterally. Brilliant Mike!! Thanks for amazing instruction!! Brendan you are the man for putting this together with Mike.

I have been working on this exact feeling with my left leg. I try to put a strong/constant pressure on the heel of my leading foot which pushes my leg into the ground. If I jump with that left leg by moving too fast the swing is not a good one timing-wise.

can you show us some variations of a "pulley" exercise? trying to think about where the bands should be anchored on the table relative to where you are standing.
@michaeldeforrest4497
@michaeldeforrest4497 4 жыл бұрын
Try anchored bands just outside your right and left feet at or slightly outside of target line, (ball placement). If you're right handed, pull the left band in your backswing and the right band in the downswing. The bands should represent the same angle as a club shaft at address. Experiment.. Hope that answers your question.

are there drills or feelings to "push your left hip out of the way?" would it be to put weight on the outside of your left foot? or straighten the left leg and that pushes it back on the heel?
@arjanpetersen
@arjanpetersen 4 жыл бұрын
Aliza it is quite logical but not so obvious. It means that pressure needs to go from toes to heel in your left foot. In sync with your right foot going to your toes. Straightening helps. But don’t do it to fast, because then you won’t be able to put force into the ground anymore.

Like in martial arts, learn the motion in slow motion first. Look in a mirror to check yourself. It's almost impossible to go too slowly. Next, learn to do a mini-version of it with chipping (fly the ball no further than 5-10 yards). Video yourself or check in the mirror. Later, chip 10, then 20, then 30 yards, checking checking checking. It takes calendar time to make neural changes because the new neuron combinations that make the new movement must be coated with myelin. Over many weeks, the new motion is ingrained (muscle memory). Much of this can be done at home, in the garage, etc. Watch out for pets and kids when swinging the club, even slowly. Good luck!
