Great video into the insight of the way to swing a driver... One thing I would say is walk before you run and I know you are trying to get everything into the short time of your videos . But I think it would be beneficial to yourself not to rush Mike's instructions. Looking forward to more videos...

Mike love your instruction. At 76 I ve been playing since i was 20. I was reasonable. Now at my age i have a problem with extension of my backswing and maintaining it. So, I slice with the driver. NP with short clubs: just the driver and fairway woods. Any suggestions on how to maintaine the extension on the downswing with my driver and longer clubs. Thanks

This is cool. You could see the centrifugal pendular swing of the shaft

He seems to have bombed it, we never saw the ball. But Brandon will do a video with someone else and go back to his old ways.

What do u mean by stand the shaft up
@zoots155 жыл бұрын
Stand the shaft up is when the club is vertical to the ground, (no forward or backward lean of the shaft) when looking face on. It should stand up( look vertical) around the front heel line. Look at any pros swing face on and you will see it.
@e.g.flores28195 жыл бұрын
Why not do a few frames in slow motion so we can see the swing and the club? At regular speeds we can’t see anything .

Try to go to setting, click playback swing choose 0.25 or 0.5. Hope this will help

With your motion the shaft shallows as it should every time. The swings when you tried to stand it up your club chased the ball causing you to have no control. The good shots you were able to keep the club shallowing and going around the arc correctly. The shots that you hit well actually had more roll after impact than the poor shots. You should only focus on creating a motion that allows you to get the club to move around on the correct arc with a stable face in the hitting interval.

I couldn't see it because of the down the line camera angle, but when Mike was talking about the driver shaft at impact was he saying it should be more vertical (or even laid back a bit) rather than pressed forward like in an iron shot? If so, does that mean your hands at impact are over the ball as opposed to nearer your front leg? And if that's so, does that mean you need to try for an earlier release than you would do with an iron?

Brendon, Mike, I love your videos and am learning from both of you. Sorry for not getting it, but what is the advantage of having "invisible" Brendon in this lesson that I wouldn't get from seeing him?

Scott Frantz you mean the real time shot tracer?
@lancesedevie5485 жыл бұрын
Swinging the club with this flipping motion is only adding loft. If this teaching was true golf designers would put the shaft in the center of the head. There is a mechanical advantage by moving the toe faster than the heel.
@bradenwarrender84745 жыл бұрын
What Mike is trying to get you to do with leaning the shaft back sounds a lot like how Phil says his driver improves by working on his bunker game. I think there was another Pro that told his son who was having trouble with his driver to pretend he was hitting a bunker shot. Btw, great video series with Mike!
@crs16391113 жыл бұрын
It was David Duval. Told his son to hit a high lob shot, then use the same swing for his driver.

Not informative because no frontal views, cannot really see what he is doing with his shaft, how to hit higher, lower, etc. Really didn't learn b/c of that & no instruction on how to hit higher or lower launch angles.
