I sat in the kitchen in the 80's as a kid, my headphones on, waiting for that guitar solo. It sent shivers down my spine and still does. Amazing 👏! What a song, just perfect.

similar story (born 1970) in the early 80s i remember with the family being in some department store and i heard this title only faint out of the background easy listening "PA system" of the shopping center, and it caught me, i tried to filter out any other sound - for years did not know who it was but always greatly enjoyed the song and still do. Yet up to date i do not know what the lyrics actually mean (English is not my native language but there are so many other songs i fully understand, only here the lyrics give riddles) but never mind it's a beautiful title.

The personnel manager at my first job loved Mike Oldfield and told me he studied what makes a hit. Oldfield came up with this. My personnel manager said to me when I left "think of me when you hear Mike Oldfield ". A couple of years later he was found dead walking his dog in some woods. I always think of Keith Allen when I hear this and any other Oldfield track.

There's something truly magical about old music like this......sadly,as a thirteen year old I was never alive to enjoy those times,but when I hear my friends talking about one direction and flicking miley Cyrus I think,wow am I lucky to know about this music!
@Richard-jt2um10 жыл бұрын
you realise that 30 years ago people thought this particular track of Mike Oldfield was way to commercial and to heavily marketed. now I'm not comparing Oldfield to one direction or anything but truth be said, there's some really good music out there besides what you hear on the radio. your being 13, so not yet alive when this music was made is a strange statement, I wasn't alive when Carl Orff wrote carmina burana for instance but I'm glad I live in this day and age when music is just a mouseclick away, think about that :)
@StraberrYKiler678910 жыл бұрын
its probable that music companies purposefully flood the market with shit to increase the value of their back catalogues so they can increase the value of company property and therefore the company coverage of the mundane lives of celebrities are sold for more than music, music id mostly a gateway for the famouse for fame to promote them to sell shit controversy = free advertising piss off a bunch of prudes and the song will be on the news its an ass, its a tit GET OVER IT go to a porn site or get a hooker and just get it over with you're making them stronger try the newgrounds audio portal or bandcamp or soundcloud or some shit non-commercial songs have to compete on their content instead of their hype the low quality oldies are forgotten because nobody bothers to look for them unless there was something noteworthy about them. over 9000 comments all reading "i hate my generation" "OLD-SHIT records inc" stock up 17% "be sure to ship the "Justin's Greatest sHITS" before we sell our back catalogue of musicians that lay cold in the dust and we dont have to pay we will get more money because of the sales increase from disenfranchised teens who think there UNIQUE for listening to oldies every song EVER has an i hate my generation comment youre not so fucking special youre just surrounded by morons MUSICAL Dunning-Kruger effect
