It would be funny if he was. Almost to make up for the broken bat incident in the 2000 World Series. In the end, Piazza is in the Hall of Fame. Clemens is not. Great channel btw.

Reminds me of that scene in Bull Durham where Crash tipped Nuke's pitch and the batter sent it to the bleachers. And Crash said to the batter "What are you waiting for, dummy? I just gave you a gift!"

I can't decide if he did or didn't, but honestly, I would have completely understood if he did and actually if it were myself in his shoes..... I'm doing worse than that for sure! Let's look at the facts! Piazza did own Clemons at the plate and this 100% did piss Clemons off. We all saw this in the bat throw and most importantly the fastball to the head of Piazza. So tipping off a few pitches in a meaningless game for me against a dirt bag like Clemons ( I'm a fan of "The Rocket" ) would've been awesome in my book and a genius move. Checkmate sir!

Its also could have been he was pitching against the best hitter in the American league . Any pitcher can get ripped against those batters I don't think piazza would be that unprofessional to do such a thing

I just rewatched the first inning. It looks like Piazza taps his glove hand in some way(on his body or with his other hand) when a fastball is coming inside.
