Shit blew me away when I was 15 years old. John’s tone and melodies were beautiful. Noticed ever since he started using music man his style changed.

His style started to kind of change with Derek, being a little more leaned towards mainstream jazz-blues and more mainstream rock. When Jordan came in, his style started to get more shreddy and metal (till this day). For me personally his style with Kevin spoke to me the most being completely unique and having a mystical quality to it.

What's Mr portnoy , been a drummer since I was 8 or 9 , big dream theater fan , I love everything you played on , I think your drumming has matured over the years the liquid tension is my favorite. Winery dogs , Ritchie has gotten way cooler and what a voice on that dude , love it , he is like Jeff Beck the way he plays with no pick , he doesn't sound like anyone except himself he is the meanest guitar player out there , I love acid rain , Jordan rudess kills it , tony Levin is so good , what a phenomenal bass player .

@@OpethianDream2112 😅oh right he does now since the metropolis part 2 tour. I'll always adore the Ibanez's paint job and that snappy sound of the dimarzio pickups and the triaxis. Nothing beats the 90's Petrucci❤️ His overall creativity and phrasing was off the charts back then 🤟🏻

1:42-ish: channeling a little Gene Krupa. These guys wear their influences on their sleeves and that is so cool. And they share so much. Pure amateurs -- originally, amateur meant someone who does things for the *love* (amator ) of it, not money. Professional just means you get paid for it. Even though they do make $$$, that's not what they are about. No one this good is. Sorry for the language lesson, but I love that word (NPI).
