I come back to this song at least once a year. I still cry every time. The "remix" is nothing but pure irony. It highlights everything he's singing about. ...honest and depressing lyrics hidden behind a happy beat.
@DirectionlessStudent Жыл бұрын
He said pretty much the same thing in an interview I saw. How ironic he found that all when the song is supposed to be sad and depressing -- he even talks about the events around it which prompted him to write it and how badly he was feeling at the time. 😢 Just to goes to show you how clueless most people are about music and lyrics.
@alqmiztviper Жыл бұрын
I belive electronic music is going in the same path that it was before. The catch is exactly what you said, the happy beat and the sad lyrics make the equilibium. The same person can feel happy and depressed at the same time on the club, reflecting the will to express that depression while dancing "happy". You need to feel sad to recognize happiness.

this version is so wonderful, to a 22 year old who has been massively impacted by mac’s words and artistry. To now somehow already have made a connection with someone who used to call him a friend is seriously one of the inspiring moments I’ve had in years. I see great things for myself through artistic expression and i’m getting there partly through the amazing work artist such as mike has already put out into the universe. Sometimes tuning out to what you specifically are trying to create and tuning into another person’s story really can dig the perfect hole to fill no pun intended

This is what happens when someone with talent, who has found success and financial security realizes that fame is superficial and their personal happiness is more important than continuing to be a puppet for the sake of status and carrying on that façade. Hope he/you are able to find that sense of fulfillment and do something you believe in for the people you shouted out. When I first heard the club remix, I just loved it as a friday night banger then I saw some interviews and realized it was hijacked from his statement as wanting out to being recycled as the very thing he was singing against. For real, hope you find a happy path in life, once I chose happiness over money and status, life got better.
