The main snare sounds too boxy for my taste... I was hoping for some company to release a Nu Metal / 2000s Kit with a higher pitched snare similar to the second one of this kit (like in Deftones, Limb Bizkit). Overall I can't really hear a difference to the normal OKW: Metal. A pity this is so polished flat, because I expected exactly NOT that from a Nu Metal VST.

Yeah I know this is a “modern” nu metal kit but that snare does not fit most Nu Metal. Early Deftones, Staind and Limp Bizkit used much higher tuned snares
@Nathan-nz5gm14 күн бұрын
genuine question, could the side snare not just literally be used as the main snare instead? it doesn’t sound panned any differently in this example
@ericwysocki165914 күн бұрын
I'd say the snare from okw pop punk would be more suitable for that type of nu metal.
@chaoschaoforever14 күн бұрын
It's so polished because Daniel Braunstein (Spiritbox's producer) mixed it.

Probably the side snare. But they are more following more modern Nu Metal sounds from bands like Alpha Wolf and Spiritbox.
@_NotEnoughMana14 күн бұрын
It's the snare sound from 0:41 that is reminiscent of Limp Bizkit, Korn etc
@svelle3712 күн бұрын
@@chaoschaoforever yeah that definitely makes sense. I think I'm just thrown off by the name. Because nu metal to me means Korn, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, etc. I wouldn't associate Alpha Wolf and Spiritbox with it. And again, no hate, because I think those bands are good in their own style for sure.

@@svelle37 I agree with you a lot. But sorta like how old school thrash and modern thrash are two different sounds, old school nu metal and modern nu metal (or something similar to it) are two different sounds. It's very strange how it's evolved over the years.

Lol those bends on the lower strings above or around the 12th fret are crazy. I’m sure Mike’s hand strength is fantastic, though I’m wondering if the guitar is tuned so low that the tension is low so he can do those so effortlessly.
