Mike Rutherford is a modest magician. His guitar work is always gorgeous without being brassy or showy, and he gives the group that distinctive sound (as well as the wonderful songs). All the singers he has worked with have been able to shine their very best, that's how good he is. Not wishing to detract in any way from this , can I remind people that there are at least two great other songs with by the same title: by Clifford T Ward, and by Al Hodge. CTW's is charming and beautiful, big Al's is a power ballad with a FABULOUS guitar solo in the middle. Both these artist have enriched my life.

What a fantastic song... Mike Rutherford is my favorite bass player of all time. His songwriting is absolutely incredible. Be it in genesis or Mike + the mechanics or in his solo career.

@@fmmaj9noname332 Mike has been a bass player since the beginning of Genesis. After Steve Hackett's departure he also played guitar on studio recordings. In live concerts the parts of the "faster solos" the guitar was owned by Daryl Stuermer, and Mike's bass, only in some more "modern" songs the group played the guitar. Already in Mike + Mechanics I put more into the guitar than the bass, but Mike by essence is BASS

JUst fantastic!!! Love them! I liked them back in the 80's but adore Tim and Andrew, Andrew's vocie is smooth...and Tim is sexy. Love the sound. Yeah!! this is what bands are made of, ability not just to sing but play instruments..not like the trash out now... all digitised crap all songs sound the same all voices sound same... MIke and Mechanics you ARE BRILLIANT!!! I cant get this song out of my head for last week! even though heard it loads ... as far as the two vocalists..geez wish I was young again!!! ;)

Thanks to my lovely wife I had that priviledge to see them life, last week in Edinburgh😊😊. This was the first song of their show last night at the RAH in London! They had no "warm-up" band , but just belted this out at setting 11(spinal tap reference) on their amps! And they were right- the show that came after was the bestest! Great show, great band, great songs, great interaction amongst the band members, and rapturous audience. A great night for everyone.
