We are probably seeing years of carrying the Angels on his back taking it's toll on his body. The Angels have squandered not only the talents of Trout, but also Otani. A rested and well Trout could definitely elevate a team into the playoffs. My bet is on the Phillies, but will the Angels get any prospects?

Mike Trout is a very loyal player that will probably play his entire career with on team, the Angels. Not too many players can claim that. Mike Trout is playing in a two team market on the less popular team. If Mike Trout played on the Dodgers that makes the playoffs every year he would get a lot more attention.

Unless he's traded to a contender(or the Angels somehow get good), Trout's looking like this generation's Ernie Banks...a HOFer who never got remotely close to a championship

It's even worse than Ernie Banks... in Ernie's time, you either won the League Pennant (against 7 to 9 other teams) in September or you were playing golf in October. Trout's Angels only had to be better than four teams to make the playoffs, and they also had a 2 out of 12 chance to make a Wild Card slot.

At this point Mike Trout won't contribute much for a contender team. He is injured every year. Teams don't want to take over his huge contract from the Angels. The Angels had milked as much as they could from him and teams will be giving them a favor by taking over his contract. He is like Kawhi Leonard who is injured every year. Shohei made the right decision and walked away from that team.

Short answer, yes. This was one of baseball’s most touted talents in years and he ends up on this team 😐. Ohtani had the good sense to hightail it out of Anaheim to take part in what could possibly be the dynasty of the Dodgers for the next decade.

Mike Trout reminds me of Ken Griffey Jr and the Seattle Mariniers then the Cincinatti Reds who never experienced the Post Season.

As an Angels fan, I have liked Mike Trout. Yes, he has historically kinda carried the team but the last few years he has been injured far too much and has NOT carried the team. Who knows what could have been if he had remained healthy. So if Trout wants to be traded so he can sit on the bench to watch his new team go to the playoffs while he recovers from yet another injury, I won't miss him. Any team would be dumb to trade for him at full salary or frankly, even half salary. In my opinion, Trout has a weird, bow-legged body type that won't last much longer.

I don’t think it’s necessarily too late for him, but if he’s traded, angels are definitely have to probably eat a fair amount of that contract with the injury probability

The Angels signed Trout to a monster deal, so some other team would have to be willing to take on significant salary for a guy in decline mode. I say decline mode, because the injuries have made him a part time player. How many teams could afford Trouts salary? Or would the Angels have to eat most of the contract?

Ted played for some good teams, won a pennant and missed seasons due to military service. Ted's career wasn't wasted but Uncle Sam fucked him over by calling him back up for for the Korean war....that was some bullshit. Mike's career was completely wasted by the Angel's. They never even remotely tried to build around him.

The Angels may have to look into making Trout their DH when he comes back in order to extend his career and avoid injuries. That way, he can still hit bombs and steal bases. No doubt he's a slam dunk first ballot Hall of Famer, the closest thing to Mickey Mantle that I've ever seen.

The SF Giants NEED a player like him so badly. Unfortunately, the chances of him performing well for the next 4-5 years is slim. I think he could end up on the scrap heap of crappy free agent signings by SF front office.

I'm not a fan of these teams committing long term contracts to guys like Trout because you know they are not going to fulfill it. With the injuries Trout is piling up, he may another couple of years.

Why does he deserve anything... He took his money and the Angels can't pay better players because of him.. HE should make something happen if he's so great... All the true greats have. Mike Trout is a great player, but he deserves nothing he doesn't already have.

He took the money, now is stuck with his decision. Sad to not get to see him in the postseason, but he took the money over a contender. The Angels have been trying to buy a pennant since free agency began, have one World Series to show for it. All the way back to Rod Carew, Bobby Grich, Don Baylor, etc, etc, etc. Last was paying for 10 years of a quickly declining Albert Pujols. Look at Trout's breakdown of the contract, his pay gets higher every year. They must have thought they would have won by now. Now they are stuck, and so is he. If having $400 Million is stuck...

Happy Otahni got out finally.... Trout is def a hall of Famer for damn sure. but Angels are Garbage.... wish he get out and go to a team that WANTS TO WIN!..... but idk his injures that he keeps having i don't see him playing to much longer. i know he loves the Angels but if that's all you want... i feel sad to see this talent go to waste... and yes its already to late for him.. he got paid. being such a player that loyal to a team that doesn't want you to be a champion..

Free Trout? What team in their right mind is going to trade for an injury prone player with a $40M contract with 6 years left and give up quality prospects? No one. Only trade scenario I see is trading one bad contract for another. Only one that comes to mind is Giancarlo Stanton of the Yankees, who also is often injured, but at least makes it through a whole season. Plus Stanton is from CA and Trout is from NJ so both players would be close to their home towns. After Strasberg and Trout, can we definitively say that most 10+ year player contracts are a bad idea? IMO no player should get a contract more than 5 years. Period.

Sorry but he's already wasted his entire career there. He hasn't played an entire season since he was 24. Only playing on average 88 games from 17 to 2023. And this year he has a meniscus year with no time table. I think when it's all said and done he'll sit down and wonder what could have been? Only if I signed with a winner I could have reached the upper echelon of mlb immortality. It's really such a waste

Years ago the Angels picked up Pujols and other talents and couldn’t make the playoffs. The team is cursed and Trout had to realize it. Shohei got lucky being a free agent. Trout got greedy with that long contract and now he’s stuck.

Let the man stay on his team. They've gotta figure it out. Will feel better when they win that way. Would just be a strike against him if he left to chase a ring.
