He’s the kind of guy that can instill some discipline and get a team on track. But he’s not the kind of guy who can be flexible enough to get the most out of elite talent. That inflexibility wears thin and the team tunes out the ranting and banter.

the lack of flexibility also applied to his game planning. his half time adjustment, if there even were any, were also worthless. it didn't matter if the game plan worked or not he just kept at it. almost to the point of punishing his team with it when it didn't work. zimmer liked trying to drive square pegs in to round holes, "hit again harder it'll fit" mentality. then after the game he'd throw his players under the bus. the guy just doesn't have the people skills to be head coach.

It's the Minneapolis miracle comments that get me. Acts like he threw and caught the game winner on his own and then feels sorry for himself and doesn't give a damn about it being a once in a lifetime moment for his players and the fans. I'd been somewhat rooting for him despite disliking the Cowboys but now I'm happy to say I'll be able to truly enjoy watching in the perpetual dumpster fire that is Dallas football. I think Zim was a great head coach, but after their 2017 season, it seems like that was when something in him snapped and his ego blew up. Everyone was calling him a defensive guru, and he believed it. I think because he had very little insight on the offensive side of the ball, he cared more about building the best defense than building the best team -- he wanted to go down as one of the most brilliant defensive minds in the game. Bringing in Cousins obviously angered him because he couldn't spend that money on his defense, and part of me thinks that he was worried he wouldn't get all the glory if they did well. Unlike the previous season where he could say he almost took them to the Super Bowl with Case Keenum. I can understand being upset with Spielman and not really wanting to develop that relationship with Cousins, but at the end of the day, you're getting paid millions of dollars to be a big man and a leader. Swallow your pride. It wasn't Cousins's fault your management was willing to pay all that money to bring him in. I also wonder if he ever intentionally sabotaged the Vikings just to "prove" that management made the wrong decision. After all this, I certainly wouldn't put it past him.

The biggest problem with Zimmer, was his complete inability to compromise, collaborate and communicate. He was never on the same page as Spielman, and their relationship was so toxic at the end, they literally weren’t speaking with each other. He was never supportive of Cousins, and their relationship was nonexistent for Kirk’s entire tenure. He was a much better coordinator than a HC. He definitely understands the game very well and was a very tough, hard nose coach. Some of his guys loved him. We never should have hired him as HC if we hired him as DC from the start I believe the results would have been much better

Him and spielman clashed and he didn't want to pick up cousins & his large contract due to now not having resources to keep drafting the higher caliber defense players & so the defense went from 1# to the bottom of the barrel , & cousins got tons of garbage yrds

Bet he wouldn’t be talking all that trash if we played this year. I hope we see them in the playoffs we all know what the Cowgirls do in the playoffs.

Decision that exposed all of Zimm's character flaws was his terrible decision to cut K Daniel Carlson after the infamous OT game vs the 🧀 heads in 2018. Rookie K, in an intense game against the Vikings arch enemy. Pressure got to Carlson and he missed three FGs. Instead of reassuring a very young rookie, saying that game turned into a pressure cooker for any K, he just fired the kid. Minnesota guy. Vikes never recovered at K and Carlson went to Da Raiderzz and had barely missed a kick since then. Mean, quick tempered, held grudges, and blamed players for coaching deficiencies. Good luck CBoys. You're going to need it with him scowling around looking for scapegoats

I can understand being upset about how things went and people airing some dirty laundry about you. The fact that he told 2 people he was close with they are "Done" after they said some mild criticism about him says a lot though. No introspective on how things could have been done better, just grudges and complaints.

What’s wild is Terence Newman’s comments and they hold a lot of water. Newman and Zimmer have been tight since 03 (Newman was drafted 5th overall to the Cowboys in 2003, Zimm was the DC) and has basically followed him to Cincinnati and Minnesota. Sucks that Zimm burned that bridge because he got his feelings hurt.

Not even trying to hold a goodbye meeting with the players (after the team gave you the opportunity) is just brutal and selfish. The management tried to give him some grace and he just wanted to pout and go home. He also had the most conservative approach to offense while holding a lead compared to other coaches of that time. He squandered so much offensive talent with his timid offensive philosophy, and kept alienating his offiensive coordinators.

Good job. Zimmer obviously doesn't care about his Mn legacy. He should have kept his mouth shut.

He had a chance to prove that he could be the HC and not just the DC, he was not all bad and I like him. I also am mindful that he probably has a lot of pent of hurt and anger from just life. He lost his wife and son tragically and I wonder if half of this is him just taking all that negativity out in a way that some people will listen to. Negative drama can seem to dull the pain of real life hurt. Lost loved ones, life's disappointments and unfairness. I wish him the best, even if he hasn't embodied the stoic and mature figure that I thought he was.

15 minutes to explain how your personality and Zimmer's don't fit well together. You are not alone from what you present. Bottom line, he proved not to be suited to be a HC. He could not handle the GM he was dealing with and it just blew up. The Cousins deal was the clincher. HE WAS RIGHT and Spielman blew him off. Just a matter of time after that.
