Concrete patching and repair is almost a whole craft in itself. I always found that a good concrete patch man was practically worth their weight in gold. Part of the problem is, knowing what product, of the millions out there, to use for the patch or repair you need to do. Another problem was trying to match concrete color. You always get a much better looking job by resurfacing the whole area. Otherwise, a patch will always look like a patch.

Yup, patching is pretty much impossible to match. Patch and re-coat or re-surface is usually what happens.

How well does this type of resurfacing the concrete to a front entrance compare to redoing a slab? You did a great job!

Liked the roller stand he was using when grinding the surface. Show a shot of it will you 👍

Mike, it there a product that you recommend for crack repair? We have a stamped patio that has several cracks in it . Most of the cracks are where the drain tiles run under the slab. Any suggestions on product that won’t make it look like a spiderweb once the cracks are filled.

Hi, can I use this on a concrete porch up here in Canada? We have rain trough ice that melts and drips on a corner of the porch, it knocks the parging off the side and today I noticed a six inch round heave on top. We have to salt as we have stairs. Can we resurface it using this product or should we knock that section off and start over? Thanks for your time, we are getting killed by fly by night, no guarantee guys.

Excellent, clear demo, thank you! Do you think that using air and not troweling too soon (and sealing the concrete) would have prevented the spalling? We don't get freezes here so don't have a feel for that.

I've got a 40x60 shop/garage where I work on heavy equipment and weld etc.. I bring in front end loaders etc to work on them in the shop. The concrete floor is 50 years old. And has gouges, and 2"-3" holes here and there. The surface is just a pain to work on cause I can't move my kreepers around to get under equipment with out a fight. It needs a resurface of some sort... but should be pretty strong to hold up to the task. Would this coating work you think? Not sure if I can use something to help with bonding since there is going to be oils down inside the damaged concrete. The concrete is pretty bonded and not flaking albeit pitted etc..

Hey Mike, what about a porch 8'x8' with a low spot in the middle of say 3'x3' 10 years old or so. If I grind down the higher then put multiple coats on of the filler, does it self level? 3/16" low in the middle give or take.

Excellent video. For covering the resurfaced slab you are using LastiSeal from RadonSeal?

Lastiseal, yes.

Hi Mike, I'm a subscriber and long time viewer..I liked this! Unfortunately I've never seen spalling in the Southern U.S., but what I need to see/ know is how to repair isolated parts of a driveway that were cracked to the base of the pad and are small... specifically near the edge. I had a dump truck bounce its front tires on the edge of my driveway while delivering soil, and it cracked about a 1X2 foot 'V' shaped area in two spots (one for each tire).. I know its not necessary to rip up the entire section, but how do you go about prepping the area for pouring a patch for the depth of the pad, so that the new concrete will adhere to the old?

does it make a difference if you use calcium or magnesium chloride? is it less corrosive than sodium chloride?
@MikeDayConcrete4 жыл бұрын
They're all bad. Some don't melt ice and snow as good as others but anything you use that melts ice/snow, absorbs into the concrete and re-freezes is bad and can damage the surface.

Does that top coat yellow from UV? I don't see a lot of people doing what you do for porches or exterior concrete.

No yellowing from UV with this stuff.
