Please make a video showing how to encourage 3A hair to go into its curls. I have mostly 3A hair which has been in a ponytail for most of the past two years so has lost much of its naturally curling tendencies. It's so nice to find a straight-haired stylist who understands curly hair.
@StephanieRZ2 жыл бұрын
As a type 3 curly too, definitely could do so by having hair be wet & styling in sections, with a leave-in conditioner (combing with a curly tangle teezer or Denman brush), either oil and/or curl cream, then there’s a fingercoiling method which is simply noticing where your curl naturally curls & turning in the direction of the curl (mimicking it). And then scrunching with gel. Can use a t-shirt or microfiber towel to scrunch any excess product & water. It’s a couple of steps but it’s really helpful & effective. Using sufficient product to hydrate its curls. Going by sections when styling gets easier/quicker the more it’s done too.

I definitely find this subject interesting. You were very detailed and focused without being preachy and repetitive. Furthermore, your relaxed gestures and confident, knowledgeable explanations made the presentation effective and enjoyable. In my 60s, everything about me is changing, including my hair. I’m having to relearn how to select and style my clothes as well as figuring out the changes in my hair and how to style it as well. The struggle is real, but your videos have helped me gain a better understanding. Thank you!🙏

Can you go over styling different hair textures within each category? Like from my understanding, curl pattern is defined by the actual shape of each hair follicle, so curly hair strands are more oval shaped than circular. But curl patterns don’t really address the texture, meaning the actual girth/circumference of each strand. I have very fine textured hair (medium to high density though) but I lean towards 3a curls. It’s really difficult to find products that help my curls without weighing down my wimpy little strands haha.

Aw thank you very much, I used a picture on my phone as comparison (video on a laptop) and was definitely tighter in spiraled curl than 3A, and was exactly similar in texture to 3B (just as I have known), though even have healthier, curlier formation than 3B' picture, respectively. And it was nice how you mentioned 3B does have spiral curls that can have corkscrews, without being type 3C because it's true. We also do tend to have a variety of curl formation as mentioned, overall, completely accurate, and well done overview! It's appreciated :)

Wow . Okay so I assumed because my hair is bushy that I must be 3c or higher, but now I’m realizing that I’m 2a in front and 3a every where else. I’ve been confused about my hair type for years… all I know is I got to layer it with a creme product, usually shea based, along with mousse to get that curl and reduce the volume. Haven’t figured out how to get root lift without too much pulling or hairspray which I hate. The worst part is trying to get uniform hair, which I think is when curls look amazing… it’s way easier to go straight then straight to curly. My front 2a is so lank it’s a joke to get them curled. Usually though I give up and just layer it all with product and weight down the back to match my front. I’m biracial and have lank ass curls. Curly girls are lucky. It is really hard going straight to curly.

Great videos. I watched all four videos and I might be losing my marbles or something because I didn’t see my hair type in any video really. I will say that I am African American but my hair must be from another planet😂! My hair is always, always dry with some super curly areas, some loose curl areas when wet! The worst put is that I’ve tried products across the board marketed for various nationalities and at 50 + years have yet to find the perfect combo of shampoo/conditioner/lite oils/heavy oils because my hair tricks me consistently. I have purchased top of the line products down to drugstore products and after a few tries I’m back on the hunt. So I walk around basically with two braids pretty much daily and yep every time I’m combing my hair my family says the sink always look like a full head of hair has just been shaved off of somebody’s head! Yet my hair grows super fast. When damp I braid it up so it’s about shoulder length but maybe once every few years I will let a stylist use the blow dryer and a low temp flat iron and as always it stretches out to my low back area and they are always shocked at the length and my damaged ends which I always allow them to trim. I really enjoyed your videos but all I know is that my hair is mad weird, frizzy and just does it’s own thing. My Mom took care of my hair for me from youth to maybe mid twenties then she basically got to the point where she refused and she’s been a licensed beautician (retired now) since forever! She loved how my hair looked whenever she would do it for hair shows over the years a day or two later she’d just shake her head and throw her arms to the heavens because I would either have to pull it up into a bun or my normal two braids 😂😂😂

I'm ethnically mixed, African American/Irish on mom's side, Southern Italian/Greek on dad's, and yes, I have at least 3 textures😂😂 One side has a whispy, soft curl, the other side curls up tighter, forget the crown, it's dry and I don't know what texture it is. My hair is cuckoo 🤪

My hair is mainly super silky and straight and just won't take any curl. But I do have a couple of random corkscrews. Mainly the thin hair around my face or at the back of my neck. It's so weird.

This hairtype system was created for black women's hair by a black man named Andre Walker. He is Oprah Winfrey's hairstylist for 30 years. When he explained it to us, it was very clear that most black women fall into the Type 3 to Type 4. This man here has misinformed you. Don't believe me, believe Google. There is a reason. You will see mostly African American women when you Type in Type 3 hair. It's very unlikely you are a Type 3 anything.
