This is a totally new way to modelling for me. This can really help with those complex non-hard surfaces. Thank you

This helped so much! For years I didn't know how to model a proper car and with so many videos with difficult techniques, it makes it even harder for me to design my own chassis , but with this tool, this changes everything. Thank you for showing me this tool.

Another good and related option is to rebuild curves (with type=Uniform) before using those final birail tools. This way, you have a nice spread of CVs across your Nurbs surfaces. My general philosophy is: "have just enough to maintain a smooth shape, but not many more." Also, with the loft tool, playing with the Section spans option can be useful. Good stuff, Mike.

Hey Mike. Thank you so much for sharing these awesome tutorials. I have a question, how can I render photorealistic cars in Maya? I've tried several, I'm getting good at it but I am unable to achieve that perfect realistic render. I've searched a lot over the internet but can't really find something that good

NURBS was really the only way to model in Maya during its first years out. I modeled a tank using NURBS in 1999. That’s right a hard surface object such as a Tiger I tank....in NURBS.

Love the tutorial! Just a random question Mike. Do you have a tutorial on best practices to import files from other applications, such as Solidworks or Pro-E? When I attempt to this, the scale is seems off. Thank you!

Yes, scale is often an issue when importing

i have doubts about car modeling, ususally i'm learning maya but i think that it can be better to use Alias Autostudio for this models?.. i like a lot to model cars.

this is real Hell to model with nurbs in maya... its yes, a way and sometimes better way (for Glass or something) but i agree.. better use Image modeler to make locators and than fast model or if you you like nurbs model it in Fusion 360.. "i'm talking to viewer that will follow your Tut" Nurbs in Maya is Broken. recommending it to use for Animation, AWEASOME TUTORIAL BTW . THX

Hey mike, that looks interesting. I’m struggling with basic topology for extrusions and support loops, and relying on creasing too much. Have you any specific videos on this. I know it’s basic stuff but I’m more of a zbrush user than hard surface, and want to improve. As an example, I’m doing a model of a TV set top box at the moment and having trouble extruding in the ports such as the hdmi and lan ports etc, and is looking messy. I want to learn how to do it cleaner. Many thanks, Garry

Hey can anyone help me with this, i'm trying to model the 1986 porsche 911 turbo and i'm struggling to get the front of the car right, the curves aren't letting me have sharp corners in some edges and also when i try to link up the rim area with the rounded light curve the mesh doesn't build. any info i can get about how to tackle this ? or what i'm doing wrong ?

Your first mistake for views is doing this in Maya, many people can't afford this. Most of us use blender bub. We're not big corporations with millions of dollars.

This channel has mainly been a Maya tutorial channel for years, what are you doing here when there are tons of other channels and video tutorials on how to make a car in Blender?
@Daso1n4 жыл бұрын
@@MrOiram46 Its doesn't matter what video I watch I can do anything with blender watching 3ds Max or Maya. I'm just making a point. Doesn't really matter, I'm just saying he can have a lot more views doing in blender.

There's the option in some countries to buy Maya Indie license, here in the UK it's about £250 per year which is good. I still enjoy using Maya but since Blender 2.8 I am starting to use that more and more. I agree, if you only want more views Blender is the way to go for videos on YT.
@zackakai51733 жыл бұрын
@@MrOiram46 I notice there's this weird thing a small percentage of Blender users do where they go into any 3D modeling-related video that isn't using Blender and go "wHy DoN't YoU jUsT uSe BlEnDeR" as if they're offended that people are using something other than their preferred piece of software ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
