People often criticise Arteta for bottling two league titles, but he took over from Unai Emery when Arsenal were a shambles and they had the worst defence in the league. They struggled a lot that season, and when the season resumed after lockdown, Arsenal finished 8th and won a FA Cup. The following season, Arsenal struggled a lot and finished 8th. It was only up until the 21-22 season when Arsenal started to make progress and they signed Tomiyasu Ben White and Odegaard on a permanent deal. Arteta had previously got rid of deadwood like Mustafi David Luiz Ozil Guendouzi etc. And even during the 21-22 season, Arteta got rid of Aubameyang, Yes they bottled top 4 that season due to injuries but they went from 8th to 5th which is still on paper progress. The following season, Arsenal unexpectedly launched a title challenge and Xhaka was reborn. Yes, they did bottle the league that season but that was mainly due to Salibas injury and theyre whole back line falling apart. Last season, they launched another title challenge and they came very close but it was because of fine margins that Arsenal didnt win the league.

Fair play to the club for giving him time. Kroenke is in eyes of many public enemy no1 but he stuck with him because he knew the club was a shambles. Started restructure from the top. Now he's happy with the setup the funds for the team keep flowing. Arteta obviously is considered as a long term man by the board and we as fans reaping the benefits

This is sporting culture in the states tbh, They give coaches time there but in the premier league teams like Chelsea Man United and Tottenham have given the league a bad rep in terms of Managers getting time to settle in, as you can see Man United have stuck with Eric only after Arsenal have with Arteta. Klopp should have been the biggest example for other clubs especially Man United.

What I love about Mikel is his complete and utter commitment to improving every detail as much as possible to gain even the smallest advantage, and he does it without compromising his values (cheating etc). cough cough City, cough cough Chelsea.
