Tow straps are dangerous but not as dangerous as steel cable or chains. Checkout Yankum Ropes. They are a kinetic rope and they are continuously testing and they rate them well below the minimum weight that they have broken in testing but even if you work them above the rating for that size rope and it breaks they basically just drop to the ground. No injuries and no damaged machinery. I see they now have a Canadian distributor. If you watch the bigger farm KZbin channel in the US plus the towing companies use them and will not use chain , cable, or strap. They also sell another strap that will connect the rope to what ever you’re pulling or pulling with. I may sound like a salesman but I’m not, just someone that has watched them in service in many applications and everyone that uses them are sold on them.

Something about a wet spot makes the brain start running calculations about the odds of making it through to the other side. The formula input usually ends to the conclusion to give it a shot… And… Dang! Stuck again!

6:28 You really should have Yankum. It’s safest and gives. They are absolutely life saving. I have had the strap break and take out windows of trucks and vans before. Yankum is never going to break. God be with you Brother Mike. Please quit skimping on some important things when you usually don’t and get the proper quality normally. It’s not about money it’s being ignorant or stubborn it’s about the safety for everyone around you. We won’t talk about the time I saw a logging cable destroy a man i saw happen. I’ll never skimp on equipment after seeing that when I was riding with my Uncle for the day in his Logging Truck in Washington State here. Safety isn’t an accident! 🙂‍↔️❤️🖖🏼🇺🇸

Mike; wouldn’t a HD clevis or rated crane shackle be a better alternative than hooking to the safety chain. That would allow strength from any angle. I’m a retired crane operator and crane shackles (looks like a clevis but has a threaded pin) are very strong.
@gablair1965

There was a bow shackle in the car which seems to have been ignored. Much better to tow it from the towing eye rather than a safety chain which isn't designed to be a tow chain/anchor point. The clue is in the name.

Mike, please for love of God don't ever pull anything with a chain. Clevis direct to the hitch is the only safe way, all other ways are death warrants. And always throw a coat or hoodie around the center of the strap, it will act as a sort of parachute and give a cage effect to the strap.

Can someone with more info explain why people have gone to such huge efforts to fence off land in the prairies? Coming from western europe id understand it, but we have hedges and fencing to keep wildlife out and livestock in. I can imagine durum wheat has those same problems? Love from the UK!

Hi, I'm just curious. My uncles have a Steiger with tracks. Do you think wheels or tracks are better in stuck situations. I don't hear of my uncles getting stuck often but they are not pulling big drills like you do they use theirs mainly for tillage ect
@clearskiesranch1362
@clearskiesranch1362 3 күн бұрын
There are a ton of variables to consider. In some soil types tracks will just sit on top and spin while tires will “dig” to help pull through. In other situations tracks float over while duals or even lsw tires sink. I’ve always preferred tires over tracks because they’re cheaper to buy and maintain. That being said I had a neighbor ruin 3 new tires one spring on deer and elk antlers so in that situation tracks might have saved him money. There are just too many factors at play to determine which is best
