I went to Jakarta during Ramadan, I ended up in Surabaya, it was like a ghost town. I explored the old dutch district, which was lovely to explore, empty. I walked everywhere, ppl did try to give me lifts which was very nice. I look forward to travelling there again. Not during Ramadan ❤

Tourists barely come to less developed areas if social interaction is not their interest. Local people are friendly, and here definitely he was there on Friday, where muslims do the Friday pray in segregation around 1 pm. Obligation to all adult male muslims. Luxurious and poor areas are reality, that’s called a social gap in economy, and Jakarta is still improving and growing.
