My friend sold that buggy a little after the test.... but he ordered the pinions, a 28t 30t and 32t... too bad he sold the buggy im sure we could have hit a LOT more :) good luck with your setup! the 2650kv in the buggy is insane and sound very nice:)

Nice :) For the 100mph run , it was fairly easy with the setup we had, we just needed a wider gearing. Unfortunatly my friend sold the buggy too early... we will test his DM1 next summer, we got 101mph last summer with it not on video, right before a crash due to a bearing problem... The ofna foam seemed to hold up pretty well to any 100mph runs we did. Good luck :)

@350zvj doesnt matter , the speed update on the radar a few times per second, it doesnt take into account previous number, and it will show slower while i turn around anyway because the angle at the radar is pointed at is higher than aimed directly, it wil show the most accurate speed when you aim direct at the object, other than that it will show lower, only way id see to increase the speed showed is to run toward the incoming RC... never tried though. It show the same if im standing still

@costanzo5137 Hi, it was a single 6S battery, to change the spur gear you need to remove the center diff and replace the spur gear. Not difficult. But we ran a custom center shaft to run a smaller spur gear than you cant find from team associated. :)
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@MikePeperni It doesnt matter when i turn around, when i aim the radar to the RC at the end im not moving the radar update the speed and will not take into accountthe previous number if it was slower, and it always show slower as im turnin around, since the angle at wich im pointing the radar to the RC is wider... i have videos that show the radar vs GPS.
@MikePeperni14 жыл бұрын
@studdgage Thx, but theres no clutch. It was the motor cogging due to the very wide gearing. :)
@MikePeperni14 жыл бұрын
@VisionaryStyles thank you :) It was a custom solid center diff, no oil, full time awd. :)
@MikePeperni15 жыл бұрын
No problem, it ran flawlessly on 6S :) The sound on 6S is amazing too!
@ibefilmin15 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I saw that at the end too. There is even a shot of it going around 97mph before moving so you're close enough, moving it wouldn't throw it off by that much. Nice jobs Guy. The owner of Caster Racing saw the video and is trying to do it with a Caster. Hit them up, I bet you can get a discount on the kit if your going for top speed with it.
@MikePeperni14 жыл бұрын
@costanzo5137 We ran 25t 34t. the 34t is an integy spur gear for the traxxas nitro revo. We modified an ofna solid shaft to add a revo slipper plate, that will hold the spur gear. My friend di that mod so i dont know for sure the exact procedure. But thats what he did. Hope that helped, :)
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@1967CamaroSSRSYenko you can strap both baterries one over another, you may need longer strap... You may also need to play with the pinion to get desired speed and make sure it doesnt overheat... 6S will go 2 times faster than on 3S. oh and i did an error, connect both in SERIE to have 6S, or run two 3S in parrallel to have longer runtime (10000mah instead of 5000mah for example...) :)
@MikePeperni14 жыл бұрын
@WarhawkLegend69 thx man :) just use the zip-ties to tie both rocker together, just route the zip-ties under the rockers and tie it on top, the rockers are the grey parts that look like a triangle... that moves when you apply pressure on the truck and see the suspension travel... Hope that help, :)
@MaciekPL8714 жыл бұрын
that's amazing, you must have a top of the line controls for this beast, wouldn't want to run that into my foot at that speed.
@MikePeperni15 жыл бұрын
Thx! :) Geared that way i have no idea, on a bashing setup its about 30 minutes. Id say 10-15 minutes geared for 100 mph. we never ran long enought during a speed test to hit the battery low voltage cut-off.
@MikePeperni14 жыл бұрын
@1521joe No problem :) We tried the RC8Te (still working on it..) we did a baseline test on 25t 50t with the 2200 MMM on 6S, we got 75mph over reving. I highly suggest to switch to a solid center shaft (eliminate center diff...) :)

@midnightRCcrew thank you! :) 105 mph is very nice, we have done similar speed with my friend's DM1 (still in progress) at about a little over mid throttle on a Neu 1515 1.5d, we need to find a nicer road, it just jump over bumps at those speed... i had a video of it hitting 101mph in a very short distance and then flying and crashing into my friend's 1:1 car... lol bending the chassis... never posted it i though we would have redone new test since, but never happened... should this summer.
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@C00lman555 The Phaltlines tires are bigger, i think team associated made the best rubber tires buggy size, if the road is dusty, the foam wont do good, you need a clean road, if you crash the foam will get damaged more easily, it depend on a lot of factor, but they handled 100mph no problem, i head those rubber handle about 105... the ofna rubber dont last over 65 for a long time. I used the medium compound i think, it doesnt matter, but the harder one will last longer...
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@RemotedEntertainment it is less stable without the wing, it make a huge difference in the way the buggy handle. :)
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@2bigtit thank you for your comment :) or the radar, we have every way and it doesnt matter it always shown the same, turning around make no difference, it will show lower speed if youkkeep your finger on the radar while turning though, but from one siode or another we got very similar speed, the main reason to radar ''away'' is to make sure the cameraman is not hit by the car at full speed. :)
@MikePeperni11 жыл бұрын
Yeah the driveshaft were poping out as well,i cant post link , but search for ''ofna solid center drive'' on google, tahts what we used, and we used also the traxxas revo slipper/pressure plate, it come as a kit with the slipper and the spur gear mount, we used the spur gear mount, you will have to use your imagination from there i dont remember everything and its hard to describe... its easy to build. to use ofna dogbones (driveshaft) you will need new drivecup though..

@jaroncyr lol so how moving it following the car would increase speed if im following it? i tested and tested so many times, we even showed with the GPS and it is withing 1 mph range, also shown gps vs car vs radar, all the same mph. The radar will update the speed every half econd or so, and im steady with the gun when it is still accelerating, the last speed shown was the fastest.... it dont take care of any movement unless it show faster while im moving around.
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@2bigtit Thx man :) i agree a box to hold teh radar gun would be best, we also used a GPS strapped on the cars, worked great, and was within 1mph of the radar most of time :)
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@02SilverWS6 turnigy is fine :) if you use a 25t pinion only with ofna foam tires and your 6S you will get 75mph with the 2650kv motor. :)
@MikePeperni12 жыл бұрын
no unfortunatly, the wheel help keeping it planted on th ground, otherwise its uncontrollable, we did cut the wing to have the right amount, we used a ofna wing, the stock one had too much downforce.
@Leon-Servant-of-Christ14 жыл бұрын
Well Mike, it's going pretty well ! I got it upto almost 120Mph (115Mph to be exact) but my foams keep self destructing lol (I went threw 4 sets in 6 runs!!) after 115Mph the foams let loose from their wheels and fly off(I even tried super gluing the sides to help remedy this) So thats the scoop so far. Novak is sending me a super 6 Cap. Trans Cap wired to an H.V. ESC and gave me some tips on cooling their motor, so it's coming along ! I should have the video up by june sometime !

They are made by ofna, you can get them at nitrohouse wich is the main distributor.

@VisionaryStyles No, nothing was cut. It was just right for the buggy like that, less downforce than the stock one. :)

@JKZD In a buggy the 2650 is very nice, torque is similar in the buggy, but in a monster truck or a truggy the 2200 handle more amp before overheating. I prefer the 2650 in a buggy. running 5S or 6S even if its not rated to run those cell.

@1521joe WHen i said over reving, i said it topped out to its max rpm on 6S, we dont really bother if it spin faster hehe we ran the 2650kv on 6S even if they recommend 4S and it ran flawlessly. We will switch to 25t 34t soon, you need to do custom shaft for solid center diff.

@CygnusX250 Thx man :) yeah i really enjoy speed runs, lots of fun :) We tried without the wing, and it was uncontrollable, we changed teh stock RC8 wing to an ofna wing and it was trimmed for the best downforce, it was not struggling at 100mph, it was over reving, we were waiting for teh new gearing, unfortunatly my friend sold his buggy before even receiving the gears... lol he is a compulsive buyer/seller :)

I have been talking to maxxamps for some different battery configurations and so on and they reccomended me to run a 5S LiFe (16.5v) 5000 60C pack, and I'll be running the Novak 5000kv 4.5T H.V. motor gears arent that big of a secret but you'll just have to wait n see this spring !! But Hopefull we are looking at 120+ depending on the tires holding up !
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@JAMESTAPPJR I simply connected the battery and go. If you overload the motor yes it may dont last. It never failed, we ran the buggy a lot on 5S bashing in sandpit as well. :)
@MikePeperni15 жыл бұрын
We also used the 2650kv for bashing, we ran it on 5S. For 3S you could use a 21t, with the bowtie tires we got 47mph and still enought power to pop wheelies. For 4S i would use a 19t pinion that should get you a little over 50mph, but with more brutal acceleration. :)
@MikePeperni15 жыл бұрын
Thx :) I got the same results, it was always the same or 1mph +- difference. I have plenty of videos where we hit 77-78 mph with the mini that way and the GPS show the same.
@MikePeperni13 жыл бұрын
@C00lman555 8000mah's 3S are big, if you find a way to fit them its okay in serie, the 2650kv is really nice it sound good on 5S or 6S. Id still use 5 or 6S no problem as soon as the gearing is right :)

@MikePeperni14 жыл бұрын
@1521joe I would not suggest to run such gearing ion regular basis, just the 25t its not too bad, for 75mph, but geared for 100mph you can hear a lot of cogging on start until the buggy move, with just a 25t pinion it was not too bad, still driveable. For acceleration, there was well enought power at any gearing, its just what your esc can handle and what the battery can give, geared at 100mph it was as strong as geared for 75mph, but the system was pulling more amp= more heat.
@2bigtit13 жыл бұрын

With the 2200kv you can use 6S no problem, first of all you need to make sure the lipo you get fit into the battery compartment, in a buggy even 3S will have more torque than nitro so you will be happy, id use 2 3S connected in parrallel, so you can run 3S or 6S to your liking, 4S or 5S would also be good but you need a lot of different batteries... you can get two 3S lipo at least 30C discharge rate, and 4200mah, we used Thunder power 4200mah 40C and 5000mah, and also SMC 30C 5000mah

@Bmw325isTT We could get very hard acceleration, but it would be hard to control, on my friend's DM1 it was brutal, for the buggy it was great, we just needed more gearing, we ran 24t 38t mod1 I see no problem if you want to clock your setup this next summer :)
@MikePeperni14 жыл бұрын
And most of the time i release my finger from the trigger while turning around.. I tested without moving and while moving and its the same. As soon as you are aiming at it correctly in line when it reach its maximum speed your ok.
