I’m so excited that I finally took the plunge into this series. I really enjoyed Red Rising and if it’s the weakest in series then this is going to be a hell of a ride.

Just finished the book so thank you for doing a discussion! Regarding POV/pacing around 37:00 mark, I love how Pierce skips over some slow paced stuff. For example, after The Jackal escapes and they chase after him they catch up in under a paragraph. No need for a bunch of dialogue or go into specifics, just skips to the interesting parts which I totally love and makes it such an easy exciting read instead of grinding through specifics

Mike I just finished Golden Son and it has left me with a profound grief. This isn't a feelgood trek through the wetlands anymore man I'm on Mars now and Mars is crushing me

Can’t believe I put this book off for so long. When you started talking about a reread I figured I had to see what all the excitement was about. It swept me away! I finished book one in a few days and I’m already half way into book two! Definitely having a lot of fun with this series

Hey Mike just finished up red rising it was kind of a struggle because the tone and pacing were jarringly different from WoT, but the latter half of the book got me hooked. Just picked up Golden Son Edit: PAX AU TELEMANUS

Man, this is great. Just finished Red Rising in a week and am onto Golden Son -- about 60 pages deep. Looking forward to the next conversation once I'm done.

I had purchased Red Rising last year based on your recommendation, finally started it last week and finished it today. This was really good I couldn’t put it down. The world Pierce Brown created is unique and well thought out. I can’t wait to start book 2.

You are the single reason I read this book, so thank you Mike! I enjoyed it a lot and look very much forward to the rest of the series 😊

Fun discussion on this first book! Its tough to discuss without going into the details of the entire triology/series but yall did a good job going through different parts and staying on topic for the most part! looking forward to more

Picked up this series after reading The Expanse. I nearly stopped at the first book just because Ive never been a fan of the Hunger Games theme. I was told to stick with it and glad I did! Golden Son and Rising Star was absolutely amazing. Reading Iron Gold right now. It definitely it harder to get into but still enjoying the new POV's. I've heard the most recent book is the best and can't wait to get to it. Enjoyed this video a lot though. I almost need to re-read the first book at this point since I didn't pay full attention to a few parts in it. Was looking for a recap/discussion and really enjoyed this talk. Going to check out the next two discussions here soon.

I've only gotten through the first couple of sections, but I will jump in with the Howler Pod folks and recommend Andor. I got Disney+ for a month just so my wife could watch some movie thing but decided to try out Andor while I had it. It blew me away! I tried to watch Obi Wan and the difference in quality and tone is insane. I didn't make it through but a couple of episodes. Obviously, season 2 isn't going to happen for over a year, so there's no rush to watch it.

I had a very different reaction than you Mike. I thought book 1 was pretty fun but nothing too special. Definitely good enough to read book 2, which I found really boring with a few really good moments. I'm only about 15% into book 3, but it's by far the best one so far

I enjoyed the talk but I haven’t started the second series yet so I’m afraid that I can’t continue with the talks in the future. You tried to stay spoiler free but too many times you’re throwing stuff out there about future books that I need to stay away till I’m caught up. Enjoyed the banter though.
