I'm finishing Malice right now (which btw I have not audibly shrieked "wtf" and "nooo" during the ending of a book in so long) and I'm 100% finishing the series before the end of January. An absolute banger! Thank you so much for hyping up Faithful and the Fallen.

Just finished Morningstar earlier this week. What a finish to the first red rising trilogy. Couldn’t put those books down!! Going to be starting up iron gold the weekend after Christmas. Had to have the happy ending for a little bit before the next set of books! So happy I finally got around to reading this series

My January TBR will mostly be finishing up the books I couldn’t finish in December. 😂 However, Witchcraft for Wayward Girls will definitely be on the top of my list. Grady Hendrix is steadily becoming a top favorite author for me. And Lightfall is absolutely going on my ever expanding TBR ‘cause vampires/werewolves will always be something I can’t pass on. Hope you and yours have a very merry Christmas! 😊

Mike, I just wanted to say thank you for turning me on to Lonesome Dove, I am roughly 60% through it now and it has become my new obsession. Excited to see your thoughts on Lightfall I may have to try that one out. My #1 priority for next year though is to finish ASOIAF. Have a Merry Christmas!

You have some great books lined up for January, I actually find that Hendrix does a great mix of horror and humor, you never know which one will whack you over the face, especially reading something like his How to Sell a Haunted House, I really liked that one, there's a word from it that I always laugh when I say it, don't want to spoil what it is but it still cracks me up almost two years after reading it.

My January TBR is heavy on mysteries with a scifi and a pulp fantasy thrown in: "The Last Dance" (Ed McBain), "Foundation's Edge" (Isaac Asimov), "Takedown Twenty" (Janet Evanovich), "Scorpius" (John Gardner), "The Mystery of the Blue Train" (Agatha Christie), "The Burglar Who Met Fredric Brown" (Lawrence Block), and "The Moon Man" (Edgar Rice Burroughs).

Hi Mike, Merry Christmas! I have those 5 books by Michael J Sullivan but decided to read Legends of First Empire first because it was a sequel of sorts. I really loved the story and writing of the series, however the ending was so bad for me. Makes me leary of reading the series your talking about.

Looking at the unread pile I decided my first new read of 2025 will be a return to Jim Butcher and his Dresden Files. I am at 'Proven Guilty' in that series. My reread for January will be Peter Straub - 'The Throat'. I meant to reread it last year. I had reread 'Koko' and did a first read of 'Mystery' and realized still needed to finish off the 'Blue Rose Trilogy' before rejoining the journey to The Dark Tower. Graphic novels I am still undecided as I finish off my current 52 issue compendium of Spawn. I am leaning towards catching up on Star Wars (Marvel) or Something is Killing the Children (Boom).

In 2025, I would like to read "Dune," "Shogun," "Gone with the Wind," and "Count of Monte Cristo." However, I do also really need to hunker down and read the last book of "The Expanse," as well as the final book of the "Protectorate" series by Megan O'Keefe. There's no way that I'll get all of that done, but I do feel that Mike is spot on in his recommendations, so I've bumped a lot of his must reads to the top. There are a bunch of fantasy novels that I want to try, but I want to get through the essentials first. Thus, I'll keep plugging away. :)

A horror author I’d love for you to try if you haven’t already is Nat Cassidy. He’s written a couple of books that he says are inspired by his love for Stephen King. Nestlings which is his unique take on vampires/ish and also Mary that he says was inspired by Carrie. His books have some old school horror vibes and also make you uncomfortable in a great way.
