It is ridiculous that 2.5 version 5.5 gen Altima has transmission issue but 3.5 version 5.5 gen has no. Maybe they use different transmission each model.

I see people complaining about the lights, but Nissan is doing exactly what Toyota did with the RAV4, what Honda did with the CR-V, what Kia did with Optima, what Mazda did with the Mazda 6, what Hyundai did with the Sonata and what every automaker is doing: waiting until the mid-cycle refresh to bring out the nicer lights and minor tweaks. Everyone is pissing and moaning about this Altima lacking LED bulbs in the taillights and interior. Can't those bulbs be swapped out for LED bulbs at your local auto parts store for about $50? I replaced the non-LED interior dome lights and incandescent backup lights in my 2016 Honda Civic for about $20. It took me less than 10 minutes to change the interior bulbs and about 30 minutes to change the backup bulbs and I'm not mechanically inclined at all. KZbinrs really love to find something to whine about.

We got a new Altima SV Saturday and we love it. We had a SL Murano, it had the 360 camera and navigation, we will miss those features. But the mpg will make up for it!! Don’t really care for the “floating” display. And only other thing is the lack of LED tail lights, our 15 Sentra had them!!!

I wonder what took car manufacturers so long to actually make their sedans good looking? SUVs, sports cars, and luxury brand sedans, have usually had decent designs.... but the non-luxury sedans like the altima, Camry, etc, have only started to look good in the recent years. It used to be that most cars that wasn't an SUV, sports car, or didn't have a german badge were pretty much a "grandma's car"

BEWARE ! Lawsuit is current on defectively made Altima CVT transmission . Our Nissan Altima was great until transmission left wife stranded in tears. Google the words Nissan Altima Transmission.

The reason why it cannot be just smooth under the hood and on the inside of the fender is because the panels will not draw from the die properly and have splits or folded metal. So there is a reason for everything not just because... Idk why you give Nissan so much shit.

I would like to buy this car, but its cvt reputation is trashed. Honda makes way better cvt's. Toyota has an 8 speed transmission that needs work. Too much gear hunting and jerking. Toyota camry 4 cly is also best in class power, yet it feels weak. I would just pick the Honda civic ex-t.

Still love the Altima but this new model looks outstanding saw few on website at dealers the prices are cheap. I hope with this being a new model it doesn't have problems as 2013 Altima did and the 2018 Accord which it looks better than most midsize cars.

I'm mostly impressed with this redesign overall. They should have included LED lighting in those tail lights it would have set the rear end off like the front. Also I don't understand why we're also still putting incandescent bulbs in interiors. And to the commenters above regarding adding aftermarket leds inside...Yeah you can do that but theyre cheap and don't last. Where as my 2018 VW has real LED lights inside all the way through it makes a HUGE difference for it to be OEM and designed for the vehicle

Raafid Vlogs currently the economy is doing great and the gas is cheap, so everyone is moving to bigger things. cars need to appeal to the young crowd, and honda is trying to push something. it may not be pretty but it's different. I can guarantee you, no one is looking forward to another cvt from nissan. they are losing more and more people to the incentive toyota and radical honda design language. the accord may not be pretty, but it appeals to a crowd that wants something different. nissan has failed to catch anyone with a cheaper maxima. imo ofcourse.

Skimped on the LED lights, on backseat soft touch plastic, and on the trunk. Side collision indicators look primitive vs. the in-mirror indicators you see everywhere else. You would think they'd do better on the top level trim.

Thats what you should do most CVTs dont have ATF cooler so the fluid gets dirty and overheated which messes up CVTS.

Great review, however, Nissan reliability has really gone down in the last decade. For example, the 2013-2016 Altima is known for high amount of CVT failures, see the Altima CVT settlement at www.altimacvtsettlement.com. The Maxima and Sentra also have high rate of failures. The CVT costs range from $4-7k to replace. I would never buy a Nissan again as the quality has gone down and the reliability is low in comparison to other brands.

Very nice car. I wish they had more wheel options. I went to the dealer and they all have the same rims. Boring. Here’s the deal with the black trim areas and the black on the wheels. In about a year all those areas will fade from the sun and from washing it. They are not painted surfaces like the paint. It’s cheap plastic with shiny surfaces. Black paint on the wheels will fade with heat, sunlight, salt especially and any kind of cleaner that more aggresive than dove soap. Those wheels will look like crap after a few times through the tire scrubber at the car wash. While beautiful, this car is delicate.

Certainly a good looking vehicle but the actual pain is the neck can be experienced when you try to sell it after driving 50k miles coz the battery keeps dying. The cost depreciates like hell and you have to decide whether to sell it for 40% of your purchased price or to keep it until the wheels fall apart. The reliability rating would be a 3/5.

I can never understand the remote trunk opener if the trunk doesn’t lift all the way. If my hands are full I still have to come and then lift the trunk. I could just open the trunk manually then. This aggregates me so much! It doesn’t have to be a power trunk but I’m sure there could be a spring mechanism to lift the trunk all the way.

Ya it is. They use the same fob on all their cars. Shit feels cheap af. That's kind of a good thing if you lose it though. My volvo key fob costs me $550 to get it replaced if lost.

VERY impressed with the updated styling, sleek sporty look!!! The old style was getting old. However, things I dont like are no exterior L.E.D lighting? It runs very loud, manual prop rod for the hood. The leather looks creased and doesnt look right...and way over priced. But keep it up Nissan, headed in the right direction.
