Thanks so much Mike! I have been photographing for a lot of years, without flash..I really loved being able to shoot without artificial light.. Now I felt like platforming, so opened myself up to learn new stuff! First Day, not kidding, I started crying for not understanding a bit, feeling lost for it seemed like every body else was able to speak the strobe-language, except for me. Even though I always shot in manual. Your approach really suits my way of adapting new info, so I am enthusiastic again and full of hope! Ready for more after implementing these first two vids.

@mikesphotography3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, Now that would be a whole video in itself, I'll add that one to the list of videos to do. The main thing is to understand single flash principles first, and then just apply the same principles to the second flash. Once you get them both firing with your camera, you then work on the ratios between the two (which is a fancy way of working out how bright they will be compared to each other). Thanks for watching 😁👍

👍📸 Well done tutorial, Mike, especially explanation of intensity, direction and quality of light and affects on pic. Flash can, indeed, be daunting - concept and gear-wise. (Talent must be expensive to hire in Dubai. Also, the apt in your vids always looks so neat and clean; does anyone really live there?😀). Does flash meter still have a place in your kit? Lack of standard hot shoe pins on Sony cams make auto shooting a challenge - perhaps the reason why comments below ask about your A73 set up. Macro flash in future vid would be super. (Nice B roll and split model/photog effects in vid, btw.)
@mikesphotography5 жыл бұрын
Haha! Thanks so much Paul, your comment about our apartment definitely made my wife smile!! 😆 What you talking about...Mike the model was really expensive to hire!! 😆 I haven't had a flash light meter for a long time now...I just wing it...that might annoy some die hard light meter fans but that's just the way I like to shoot. In shooting in manual mode, it actually works well as I can adjust certain lights and in knowing about the inverse square law I can manipulate the lights to give the intensity that I want. It's interesting to know how people are finding it hard with the A73 setup...I just treat it like a manual flash as I used to on my DSLRs and it works the same for me...I am definitely going to do a flash photography with the a73. I've just ordered a A7iii specific flash so I can show the difference between auto and manual, and how to set up the A7iii for flash. And thanks for the suggestion...a Marco flash photography tutorial would be a fun one to do. As always, thanks for the support dude!! 😁👍
