Hi Mike, Can't tell you how much of a fan I am. I come back every few months or so and binge watch whatever you've posted. In my most recent binge, I was really excited to see that you've started to film some of the actual work being done. Seeing you work and walk through the whole process is incredible - I truly enjoy it. Thank you for creating and sharing this with us. Can't wait to see that 911 out on the road. Your fan from Boston, Timothy

Hi Timothy Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. Im happy your are enjoying the series. Its a pleasure to make the videos and share some of these things. The DIY guy can really bring that car back to life and on the road again in ways that just weren't possible only a few years ago. With tools like KZbin on online forums and suppliers ..incredible things are possible right at home Thanks for tuning in! and again for the kind words=)

Mike, I’m new to your channel. Just came across it by accident, or so. This is, I’ve to say, exactly what I need. I like the level of details that you provide. Not too many, not too little. And a very smooth narration. All. The. Time. Really nice! I’m collecting (and of course driving!) a number (7) of old Porsche ladies. And all what you show is very much inline with what we’ve to do on every f@€& single car. Very much appreciated, Mike! Thank you! Ingbert PS: Enjoy the ride in these old cars as well!

Mike just came through a hurricane and was happy to see your new post when we finally got power. Excellent and as always on point. Had just got my electroplating set up when we started having to prepare for the storm . Once the clean up is done I'll be giving it a try. Thanks for taking the time to post.

"1967 Porsche 911 Video 31" related: I have a 1978 911SC. I just rebuilt my pedal cluster, replaced clutch, pressure plate, TO bearing, clutch release lever, operation lever, omega spring, clutch cable. My original clutch release lever requires that is inserted through a pin hole on the release lever that binds it to clutch lever release shaft. I'm not sure exactly what purpose this pin serves. Whether its to prevent the lever from sliding up and down the shaft or force the lever to turn with the shaft. The original clutch release lever with the pin hole doesn't seem to be available. The available lever doesn't have a pin hole. I adjusted the gapped the replacement clutch release lever and operation lever and clutch cable/clutch pedal stop. I depressed the clutch pedal and it does not return to normal position. I'm not quite understanding the role each of these components play. Is it the pressure plate that pulls the clutch pedal back to the normal position? Can you shed some light on this?

Hello BWJ I think it would be best to ask Kurt at Klassik Automotive Training School. He just did a video on clutch replacement on a later car. Not sure the year but I think its around your year. I would give him a shout as he is expert on all components of all years Good Luck!

Such great videos Mike, You are creating an in depth early 911 encylopedia! Do you know if it is possible to adjust brake pedal height with this model? Or have you done a video of the pedal cluster installation? I cant seem to find it. I have a 66 which I believe it is the same this setup as this. My brake pedal is a bit too high compared to the gas pedal.

Hello Jonny Thank you Yes there is video on the installation of the cluster..it's been awhile but if my memory serves me it might be included in the tunnel line vide set somewhere. im not familiar with any height adjustment for these pedals but the throw is fully adjustable on all three. Good Luck!

@@MikesRestorations thanks. I’ll hunt for that part of the video. Maybe adjusting the brake pedal throw will help my situation.

Mike, I used white lithium grease throughout the rebuild process. If that is bad, do you know why?
@MikesRestorations
@MikesRestorations 4 жыл бұрын
Hello dtown and Seasons Greetings! You are fine! White lithium is excellent lubricant for bronze bushings..they are self lubricating anyways but white lithium is excellent spec for Bronze.. for plastic it might be a bit sticky but should still be fine Good Luck!

@MikesRestorations

Hello Tom Purpose is just using a synthetic based lubricant to prime the bushings

Hey Mike, really great, as usual. I appreciate your attention to originality, but did you consider upgrading to a later dual circuit master cylinder for the brakes?
@MikesRestorations
@MikesRestorations 7 жыл бұрын
Hi John Thanks=) Thats a great mod to do for sure..On this particular project though Im keeping any mods to a bare minimum I thought long and hard just going with bronze bushings as apposed to plastic originals. Will try to keep the restoration as accurate as possible Great suggestion though! Perhaps something for our viewers to consider going with Thanks for tuning in!

I understand. You are working so hard to make an original car. Some bushing changes are no where near what a full brake system change would be. Certainly respect that. Keep up the good work and please keep sharing your videos. Many of us very much appreciate your effort.

Thanks John Will keep up on the videos..might have a small interruption as KZbin video editor is being done away with in a few days. Ill need to learn editing from some new software..Grrr.. Have no idea how long that learning curve will be

I appreciate your postings as I'm restoring a slate grey '68. How did you get the brake spring off/on? Will you share the Ppg paint formula? Thanks!
@MikesRestorations
@MikesRestorations 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Justin Thanks =) A slate gray 68 what a beauty Removing the brake spring can be done one of two ways. unbolt the brake pedal shaft with the rubber stop and slide it out. The brake pedal and spring will then lift right out. If its frozen You can pry if of pedal arm with a long thin screw driver. To install place the spring on the pedal arm with the straight part of the spring facing forward..then insert the brake pedal shaft and nut it down being careful the pedal is resting against the rubber stop. How can I help you with the PPG system.. are you referring to color blend?

Mike M Thanks for your help. I mistakenly thought the spring was tensioned on but rather it was fused in by rust. I worked a screwdriver around and voila! Thanks! Yes, what's the paint formula?
@MikesRestorations
@MikesRestorations 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Justin Great! Glad it worked out Give me some to round up the paint formula..Ill need to get it from Finish Master hopefully the have it in my file. If so and accessible Ill pass it along A spray out will still be needed to make sure its what you are after and it might need some tweaking from there but hopefully get you in the ball park Ill be in touch
