Nice how to Mike. Another Tip: All of my motherboards have the 2-pin plastic shunt or jumper on them...but I only have them on one of the pins, so if I do need to reset the CMOS...the shunt or jumper is already there. I remove the battery, put the shunt or jumper on both pins for about 30 seconds. Then I put it back on one of the pins again. Put the CMOS battery back in. Hope that helps. Thanks for sharing Mike and Lady Kath. Cheers

Great reminder tutorial! I upgraded to B550 a few weeks back and in error put the MSI bios into overclock mode. Had to think what you had previously instructed. Power off, pressed the power button for 10secs, then used my MUB screwdriver to short the pins. Restarted and bios back to original settings! Phew! Thanks Mike and Kath for all you do 🐈👍

Hi, Mike. Good video. Because I used to contently tweak my RAM sittings, I've probably cleared the BIOS at least five-thousand times. Never once have I ever removed the battery. But there's no harm in being thorough. One tip I have if your motherboard doesn't have a Clear BIOS button, is that you can connect the reset button on the front of the case to the clear BIOS pins. That way you will have a button on your case and won't have to mess around with a screwdriver. But if you're using the reset button for changing RGB or something, you can buy a reset button for cheap and attach it someone on your case that's easy to get to. I hope someone finds this little tip helpful.

For my test bench MOBO, I wired up a push button momentary switch, soldering two wires from some old header that I cut up so it now just has 2 pins, to the legs on the switch and this is what I use for my "power button" on the bench.

Hi Mike, Love your content, especially the motherboard deep dives! Would be able to review the "Phantom Spirit 120 EVO" cpu cooler by any chance? there's plenty of coverage for the "phantom spirit" but nothing on the EVO.

I'll check it out, but at the moment the price is still a bit steep for what it is. You can get 360 aio coolers for less

This is a great video for people to reset their bios if there are issues. Am I wrong to say that motherboard manufactures need to implement a factory reset Bios within the Bios itself? Resetting everything to default isnt cutting it for me... all we want is a simple button setting
@OlettaLiano10 ай бұрын
Most motherboards allow you to save your current working BIOS settings. So if you mess things up when making changes to your BIOS, you can clear it, and then reload the working version. Thus not having to reset everything from scratch all over again.
@mikesunboxing10 ай бұрын
There is a setting in the bios if you can still access it that will load optimised factory settings

I accidently cleared the cmos with the psu switch on;however, the computer hasn't had problems so far. But, could it have problems in the future?
@mikesunboxing10 ай бұрын
No that should be fine, usually the residual current in the psu would prevent a reset so it would seem yours was a bit of good fortune
@kokobil6 ай бұрын
So to clear Cmos you need to BOTH remove battery AND do the thing with the screwdriver over the clearcmos pins? Isn't just enough to remove battery and wait 5 minutes?
@mikesunboxing6 ай бұрын
no because a lot of PSUs have massive capacitors and keep the 5v standby rail active for ages

Just a litle tip. Whilst you do have the battery out, do make a voltage measure of it. You be suprised how many batteries (even new one) don't hold specified voltage. btw voltage should be 3V

I just recently changed my ram speed to what it's supposed to be and then I went to change something else and It just won't boot into bios, or it does and i get no input signal. Here's the kicker though, I can boot into the OS and get a signal. I'm wondering if this could work. I don't want to screw anything up any further. Should I be good?

Usually, the mess comes from people who don't know what they're doing. You can't really foolproof human tampering.
