AMD are the clear winners, ive had nothing but problems with intel computers when trying to make music, LATENCYMON reports stupidly high latencies causing random sound pops and clicks rendering my computer useless for FL Studio, in a race to try and beat AMD intel have seriously messed up their 11th and 12th gen CPUs, they are horrible. if anyone reading this is after a computer for music production avoid intel like the plague, they are horrendous. AM5 is stupidly fast i tell you, its a one horse race now, intel have nothing of interest to me anymore, in the days of the core2quad i was happy as AMD FX was bad, really bad. Lisa Su has done an amazing job of turning AMD around and theyre now on top, by a mile.

i think Asus might actually have an updated version of this board, i could be wrong. id love to see you test the Ryzen 5600 non X since it's the latest, but without a bios flash that make things difficult. what would you have to get, first gen Ryzen or 2000. what about if you use of there cheap Athlon, the Athlon 3000G or whatever it's called. 3000 series should, but without a bios flash even 3600 wouldn't work without it. that said the Asus Prime boards are pretty good, i had one in the past with my i5 3550. that used to be one of there premium boards, until the Rog Strix boards eventually came in and took over that spot.

There is one big inconvenience though when mounting this board: the I/O Shield has a "tooth" that will go into the USB-C port if you don't pay attention. So you better prepare some scissors to cut it off (I don't know what Asus was thinking here!?). I didn't find a better way to solve this issue anyway. If someone knows how to handle that tooth, please comment below! Besides, I think this is a 6+4 phases VRM-design, not 8+2. Seems to be an Asus thing on the Prime boards. But even "only" 6 phases dedicated to the vcore are enough for even the mightiest 5950X as long as you don't go beyond the stock overclock that will limit the power draw to 140W. That would mean roughly 18A per phase, that's absolutely nothing to worry about, as even the shittiest VRMs can do 40A, thus won't overheat with such a medium load, especially with a heatsink on.

I purchased this board from Amazon warehouse used deals too for about £75, it's a good solid board just missing the BIOS flashback and the USB C front panel connector. Just a shame Amazon don't flash the board to the latest BIOS before selling it as that would have been great but as I had a Ryzen 3rd gen chip it was fine but Ryzen 5000 series out of the box support would have been ideal.

Hi, I bought this motherboard from Amazon and noticed that it occasionally doesn't boot up. The DRAM LED lights up orange, the CPU LED lights up red, the VGA LED lights up white, and the boot LED finally lights up green. Does that mean anything about the colors? Because as I said, sometimes it only goes as far as the DRAM LED and then hangs up. I swapped the RAM, tried different slots, even just one ram bar, swapped the CPU, tried a new power supply. Finally I did a bio update, but it didn't help. Then I received a new board from Amazon and it is exactly the same. Do you have any idea what that could be? And excuse my bad English because I come from Germany and use Google Translate. Happy holidays to you. And thank you in advance for your effort.

Hi Mike do you have any idea of the Maximum fan weight that can be used with this Motherboard, there is no mention of this on Asus website and the fans are topping 1kg now which would be fine if we were all still living in the early 70's when we all had desk top cases and the Motherboard was horizontal.

i don't think there is a limit as far as that is concerned. the weight isn't too bad, it is the lateral forces when moving it around that is a potential problem

depends what region you are in but i would suggest a 650w gold rated as a starting point, the 4060ti won't draw much power, but the new psu's also allow for power excursions over and above the rating on the box. The Thermaltake GF3 range might be worth a look, but it depends a lot on your budget

Yo Mike! Just built a pc for my friend using this motherboard and a 5600. Although when I ran a Cinebench R23 multi core test, I only got around 9800 points. Any issues with VRM temps? I believe it can get upto 100⁰ with some CPUs, such as Ryzen 9. Would be paired with a Ryzen 7 5700X in my setup.
