I preferred this version of Rick & this actor’s take on the character. He held his own with Stephanie. Sadly, this one actor’s return wouldn’t save this show now. The writing, the actors & the background music, it’s all so different now. I don’t even recognize it anymore.

Well, to be fair, the background music was already changing by this time. However, they did still use the old music from 2008-2013 and occasionally use bits here and there (one was actually used in yesterday’s Christmas episode). With that in mind, everything you said was completely true.

This was the best Rick, IMO. Kyle Lowder is head and shoulders above Jacob Young as an actor. JY seemed like a petulant little punk. Lowder always brought so much more depth to the role.

jmnny85: Stephanie was ALWAYS that way and, the latter version of her, is EXACTLY the same. The only difference is, Stephanie didn't throw herself at a man who continually showed her that she was SECOND choice, like Liam does to StePHONY. Stephanie did plot, scheme and lie to Eric to get him to marry her but, as a couple, they built Forrester Creations together and had a family. StePHONY has done NOTHING but, constantly go to Bill whenever she's in trouble, so that he can strong arm Liam into reuniting with her. Stephanie's upset sounded hollow? That's putting it mildly!! She was a bona fide pretender and, look at who she had to rely on, at the end of her life? The "Slut from the Valley." What was even more ironic was, Brooke NEVER deliberately lied about the paternity of any of her children. Stephanie did and, I believe StePHONY is, too.

Alright, let me put it this way. Stephanie and Brooke shared their hatreds for years and so does Rick and Ridge. But I'm sure that Stephanie should get past it and I'm not even too sure what will happen with her decision is to accept it or not. And I understand she always pushed Taylor on her side to get back at Ridge, but what do you care Stephanie? And I understand that she faked her own heart attack thanks to Brooke because she set Taylor and her son making commitments. Brooke and Ridge have no choice but to deserve each other and they were compassionate for well over 2 decades. What Brooke did WAS a part of manipulator in her life. Involving Stephanie's husband Eric, Thorne, Deacon and Nick. Then Oliver?! Hope would've been frightened especially Bridget. And I understand that Massimo and Stephanie were together in the past since the first time then leaving him with Eric, but I honestly couldn't remember since when I was born though I wouldn't care. Eric and Stephanie deserved together as the time she died of lung cancer. He had so many flings with Brooke, Beth, Donna, Quinn and now evil Sheila is back in town! Urgh! Anyhow for Rick misdeeds, he wanted Ridge and her mum to separate and not marry which is why he's underestimating Stephanie and the parts of her family. And now he's a three-timing cheater lying on Phoebe who involved so many women. Then she died instantly and all of the sudden, Rick was irresponsibly reckless in his life and this may have been one big tragic accident according to his mum however, he's in denial the next one. Like sabotaging the company with loads of his revengeful ideas consumed with hate and now having an affair with Phoebe's sister, Steffy! That's what I think this is all about in my own opinion.

Jacob Young was my favorite Rick Forrester. Kyle Lowder's version never seemed like the same character to me; the overall performance was unremarkable. The writing was not that great in this era, though I've been a viewer sense almost the beginning of the show, and know that most of the characters were being written to act in ways that were contrast to what they would have done in the earlier seasons. It got so wacked out that sometimes writers still struggle to sort out the mess and make sense of it. For instance, it was soooo taboo for Thomas to kiss Brooke, but at one point Taylor thought nothing of being in a romance with Rick. Just sloppy writing, at the time.
