I remember watching a video a couple of years back, where a professional washer & dryer repairman who’d been in the business for decades, talked about these fancy new high efficiency front loading washers are hot garbage and only last a few years. He said he told customers to avoid buying them at all costs and just buy the old fashioned top loading washers if at all possible.

Mike, great videos. Here is a tip for you. Those canisters that you run across that you say, 'your scrap yard want take but other scrap yards do". Why not stock-pile all of those tanks for a rainy day and take them all to the scrap yards that do. It would be a nice pay day for you. Second, my nephew in South Carolina; his scrap yard will take them if they are crushed or if two holes are drilled in them. Same goes for fire extinguishers. Check with your yard and see if this way is also acceptable. My nephew also has an uphostery shop that buys all of his executive chairs that people seem to throw away when they get a little rip in them. They pay him $8-12 for each one depending on the chair. Mike, you are too smart to let money slip through your fingers. Also, go out and buy a damn trailer and start stock-piling aluminum cans. Phil, your biggest fan from Thailand.

8:30 The stationary bike has "...been around the block!" 10:49 Dang it! That looks like the model we bought about six months ago! Already on the curb! 16:19 That cast iron cauldron looks like an old one. Worth $ even in that condition. People plant flowers in them but drill or break out the bottom so that they won't hold water. If they don't, the plants can stay too wet, or the cauldron freezes during the winter, and it breaks. Shame, those are very hard to find now, harder still to find intact. Originally used by pioneer families in Texas for laundry, boiling water for hog slaughtering after the first hard coldspell, or any other job needing a lot of hot water. One of my other relatives got the one from my grandparents. They can be worth quite a bit. Saw one with a drilled bottom that sold for about $100 about twenty years ago.

I was cutting trees on an old cattle ranch the sign on the fence said it was in the same family for more than 150 years. The old rancher asked me to cut this one limb off and then he starts telling me that there is a piece of chain imbedded in the limb and that is where they had a big iron pot hanging so they could make soap over a fire about two feet from the base of that tree.
@Vault576 ай бұрын
@christophertaylor2464 yep! Nearly everyone had one of those large pots. It was used for all kinds of tasks that needed lots of volume, like soap making. My grandparents had a tree where they hung a singletree for prepping hogs. After killing, the hog was hoisted up, and the cauldron was full of boiling water. Then boiling water was poured over them. It caused the coarse hog hair to release, making it easier to scrape off before butchering. They raised, fished for, hunted, or grew practically everything they ate. Maybe at a very young age, I ate beef at their house, but I don't actually recall ever doing so.

The dryer that you picked up, most of the time it's the heating element that's broken. Since you're in the scrapping business, It's easy to find heating elements from dryers. They're almost all the same. A dryer like this resells easily for $200.
