Any one of these verses can change your life. Store up this wisdom and look for ways to apply it. To study proverbs is to methodically gather wisdom much like the way a farmer gathers in his crop, knowing that it will be essential for the future. I'm hoping this little tour through Proverbs 27 will ignite in you an appreciation for the book and renew your own hunger for wisdom. Let's honor God's name by being a wise people in the midst of a foolish world.

So good. Proverbs has changed my life too in so many ways. At one point, I even became obsessed with trying to be the Proverbs 31 woman until God finally showed me that if I just seek Him diligently those things will come too. Thank you Lord!

The Proverbs 31 woman was a wife of a super rich man who gave her the seed money for starting an impressive enterprise. Not a regular woman!
@elizabethtaylor9242
@elizabethtaylor9242 4 жыл бұрын
Gen Li I’m not so sure about that. I get the impression she started small ..... making some belts and selling them ...... and gradually built up from there. She is well organised and hard working and full of faith, able to step out in faith. She buys a field with her own income. When I first encountered her, she represented to me an unreachable standard, and a workhorse for the patriarchy. A few decades later, after becoming a Christian, I began to receive a more favourable impression of her. Then I met some brilliantly creative Proverbs 31 women, and I was seriously impressed. She is free and creative and loving and giving. She serves from a free and loving heart. She also seems to be physically healthy, which helps. It is difficult for those of us who are not to work day and night, however enjoyable it might be. But her hard work contributes to and raises up the whole household and would be far preferable to working for a corporation or an employer. Instead of being dependent or a burden for her husband, she is an asset.....and contributes to his success and his good reputation. So it is a virtuous spiral up in terms of life enhancement for everyone concerned. Eventually he and the kids rise up and call her blessed! It’s an example of the way the Bible teaches building up not tearing down. Her husband must be something special too, because he clearly is not oppressive, or a control freak and gives her breathing space and love and support. I’m don’t mean just economic support. It is difficult to be like her around people who are criticising you all the time and tearing you down. Appreciation and encouragement are life enhancing in any family. She seems to be the result of divine wisdom, her own and her husband’s.

Trinity worship is mortal sin against the 1st Commandment. Winger is leading people down the garden path to Hell, so he is working against God with his multiple gods of the popes. There is One God and one mediator, not a panel show of three idol gods. No trinity worshiper can enter Heaven for you have accepted the Mark of the Beast - the sign of the cross, calling on the Three Unclean Spirits you admire most, the fadda, da son, and da holy ghost from Roman paganism.

@@lilhammad9214 this isn’t stating that the Scriptures themselves, as a whole, are corrupted. Of course we find corrupted manuscripts here and there, some heavily edited by Gnostics or some heavily edited by means of misinterpretation/compromise. However, these manuscripts go through a tedious study, and are discarded if not seen fit to be in the Bible. This passage is a reminder to Jeremiah that not all who hold the pen and paper (supposed authority in the Scriptures) were interpreting or upholding the Scripture rightly. A commentary that talks about this is an online, free commentary on Jeremiah 8 known as the Enduring Word commentary by David Guzik. I encourage you towards a level-headed approach to studying who Isa al-Masih is my friend. I encourage you to douse yourself in information about him from the Injeel. About the "everything bitter is sweet" thing, I went through a very tumultuous season of life back in 2018. Now that it's over, I am even grateful for the struggles of this time in my life because of the terrible season that's behind me. That's just what comes to mind when I hear that verse. Like, people around me are just unaware and ungrateful of how beautiful their lives are, and I, having struggled so much and come through (by the goodness of Jesus, of course), am just so overwhelmed by thankfulness that even my trials are washed over with thankfulness.

God must be helping me weed through the tarres. But once it's all said and done I am so grateful to Him for his guidance. I just wanted the teaching as an adjunct to the Word I already study. I hate that I do things that are unpleasing to God but at the same time it is humbling and constantly reminds me that I am not perfect. It proves time and time again that only God is perfect, it also makes me feel grateful for what He has done for us because of our imperfection. 27:30 I did this just this past year in December 2023, I left my wife and kids for another woman because my wife and I had an argument told me to leave and I did. And I ended up on an ankle monitor and on probation and I knew all of these verses and teachings and I still did it. My wife and I acted in pride and he humbled us real quick. These feelings of happiness are fleeting. But the joy in the love of Jesus is forever. And we came to God and he is still protecting us and sustaining us. He took us back just like the prodigal son. And he is safeguarding us and creating a path where there is none. God wants to create us into a person that the enemy is afraid of. That’s ok take that lickin and keep on tickin because The lord will use you to spread the Gospel when he needs to. And this only made our faith stronger. And I hope whatever anyone else goes through let’s their hardships make their relationship with Christ stronger Amen HalleluYAH! 🙏🙌

The wisdom books (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Job) brought me back to God after my faith had grown stale. I found so many answers in these books, on topics I never even knew the Bible addressed. It gave me peace of mind that my struggles were not particularly new or unique, and that there were real answers to be found in the Word. (For example Ecclesiastes blew my mind once I realized it directly addressed nihilism… something I had assumed Christians were too scared or naive to talk about!) And Proverbs gave me a place to start focusing on fixing up my life, one decision at a time. One nugget of wisdom at a time. It helped me understand the hurtful behavior of people around me. It helped me empathize, and not resent. It helped me start to notice my own hurtful or selfish behavior, and gave me confidence and guidance on how to correct myself. And then as my sense of peace and understanding grew, I couldn’t deny that there was definitely Something More in these words, working underneath. Once you realize that wisdom is the key to a fruitful, fulfilled life… and that the Bible is a gift that teaches you wisdom… and the Spirit is a gift that helps you act on it… absolutely everything changes!

Proverbs as always confused me. So I am so glad for this teaching as I will be rewatching this over and over again to be able to retain the lessons of Proverbs. Thank you, Mike! And thank you God for your wisdom.

"Every bitter thing being sweet": By waiting until we are truly hungry, though not starving, to eat, we keep our bodies in the catabolic *healing* phase the longest and, as a bonus, even the most bitter cruciferous (for Christ!) vegetables (real thing: look them up) will be sweet. So it is with the Word: the Law and the Prophets may be bitter bills to swallow especially when we are fat on sin, but when we hunger for righteousness, even these bitter pills are sweetness to our lips!

It is our love that helps us preach about sin, not hatred! God bless you, Mike! That is such a profound statement and a gentle reminder that it should be out of love as is supposed to be :)

another interpretation for Proverbs 27:7 is if your soul is filled with the spirit, you'll be knowledgeable of the bitterness of sin, and even if you don't, you won't be in need to seek out other sources of sweetness

59:16 "He's saying don't agonize over things you don't know." - This is so good. Something that recently helped my anxiety over the future was realizing that my anxiety was coming from my brain trying to solve the problems of the future without actually being there yet. Once I realized that I don't even have the means to start figuring out detailed specifics of the future, I was able to let it go and trust God to still be with me when I get there.

Tricksy hobbit maneuver 😂. Pastor Mike, I have recently reconnected with my faith and my fiancé is as well. We are realizing how ignorant in scripture we both were. Your teachings have helped us tremendously and I just wanted to thank you for it. You have been a blessing in our lives. God bless you brother.

Thank you! I love Proverbs and have read it for many many years, but I never stop learning from it. I appreciate the clarity you gave on verse 22. My adult child is making choices that we have taught her are not right. But if she is committed to her folly then there is nothing we can do beyond praying for her and sharing the truth with her.

When people or my self or anyone makes a statement like “ I am not sure what to do”!!! A book such as proverbs psalms the Gospels give so much guidance for our lives, to the point that the question we started with Is basically untrue ... We do know what to do, But do we do it ? And if not why? Gods glorious blueprint is there as the Psalmist states. Psalm 119: 105 says Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

I have been sober for three years and I have to say I will never stop reading Proverbs now for the rest of my life. This will be the key to a healthy and sober life. This is the key for me to learn how to love the people around me and everyone else God brings in my life. Thank you. The book of proverbs is amazing!
