Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference: 0:00 - Intro 1. 0:11 {Trump’s Christianity} Is Trump's Christianity real Christianity? Here are some of my concerns about the rise of cultural Christianity. 2. 28:15 {Open vs. Closed Communion} What is your opinion on open vs. closed communion? Should the pastors or elders check who is taking the communion? 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 may support closed communion. 3. 38:26 {Are Guardian Angels Biblical?} What is the biblical case for or against guardian angels? Are they a myth, or do we really all have individual angels following us around and helping us? 4. 47:58 {Do False gods Exist?} When the Old Testament talks of false gods such as Moloch, what does that mean? Is it that they don't exist, or is the word "false" referring to them being untrustworthy/deceitful? 5. 55:51 {Courage & Self-Control on Social Media} Do you think God expects us to post about controversial issues on our social media accounts? I don’t want to start needless arguments online, but I also sometimes worry that I’m being cowardly. 6. 1:06:11 {Does Satan Have Free Will?} Given what Revelation 20:7-10 says, what is the probability that Satan will NOT deceive the nations when he's released from the abyss? Is it 0 or greater? If it is 0, does Satan have free will? 7. 1:11:40 {Can we be Too Wayward to be Forgiven?} Romans 1: 24 says “God will give them up to the lust in their hearts to defile their bodies.” Can one be forgiven and come back to Christ if one thinks this has happened to them? 8. 1:24:40 {Explaining a Confusing Passage} Can you please explain how you understand Revelation 22: 11? I was super confused the first time I read this verse. 9. 1:26:16 {Is Love God’s Chief Trait?} Is love God’s chief trait, or just one of them? Is it right to call all He does (i.e., punishing sin) an act of love, or are some things done in keeping with His holiness, justice, etc.? 10. 1:34:25 {Recorded Sermons & Prayers - Biblical?} What are your thoughts on listening to recorded sermons, specifically “praying along” with recorded prayers? How exactly does that work? I listen to you mostly after the fact, so it feels odd. 1:40:33 Bonus Joke - Just for fun! In Genesis 4:8, Cain killed his brother. I feel like it was because he was Abel. I was an atheist for decades, but a few years ago I became a cultural Christian. Jordan Peterson and the like were big influences in my life. God uses the overcoming of deception to strengthen the Body of Christ we are both examples of that. 2. Apart from the Holy Spirit, is Christianity possible? Is not "Cultural Christianity" and false doctrine religion defined by an absence of the Holy Spirit? 3. Because we are followers of Jesus who know what it is to be engaged in God beliefs sold as right, being wrong, does that mean we have a duty to witness against the threat of "proximal righthood defined by individuals" that is Cultural Christianity?

We have an opportunity with these individuals to bring them forward. Steps. Look for common ground as a starting point, not an end point. Hi, Mike. I think my story might be useful in the discussion. For 12 years up to last November I had a deep-seated anger directed towards those in the church who condemned members of the LGBT community. This anger was completely obliterated by an overwhelming experience of God's redeeming love. The gospel message suddenly became personal and what Jesus Christ die on the cross, he did for me. He took my sin, suffered in my place and died my death, both physical and spiritual, and rose again from the dead in triumph for my redemption through the power of the same Holy Spirit who indwells the surrendered, adopted child of our Heavenly Father. I was then aware of God's holiness and righteousness and reviewed my life in that light. It was a sobering experience. I confessed my sin and received total forgiveness and cleansing of all my unrighteousness because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. My identity is in Christ alone. Other identities are of no importance. The gospel message starts with bad news which everyone knows - that we are all sinners. 12 months ago if anyone had mentioned about sin, I would have told them to take a running jump. Now I understand. Thr middle letter of sin is I. Self is on the throne of our lives or we surrender them to the Lord. There are no half measures. If I was an American, I could not vote Democrat because of policies and Republican because of the candidates who are using cultural Christianity for their own ends. Self is very much on the ascendancy. I am saddened by the rage within the soul of the country. Only God's redeeming love can completely obliterate this rage snd rebellion, as it did with me. There is no other name by which we can be saved - only the name of Jesus Christ, the name above all other names. I live, surrendered to the sovereign will of Almigjty God. So I know God already knows the outcome of the presidential race. May the Lord provide more and more opportunities to share the gospel with friends snd family and others.

Regarding question #9: I recommend the book "The Knowledge of the Holy" by A.W. Tozer. Using Scripture, Tozer explores 22 attributes of God, and shows how all God's attributes are complete and essential, so for example, His perfect Love does not diminish or stand opposed to His perfect Righteousness. Highly recommend this book.

Very accurate and insightful. I lament this completely!!! There is a distinct lack of recognizing Holy Spirit. We acknowledge the benefits of Jesus and we want His power but we don’t want His Spirit, we’re vain. We think we can manipulate God like a tool for the benefit of men, but that will NEVER happen. We are dependent. It’s all Him but we can come into agreement with Him and He will help us!

When Trump was found guilty of the 34 felonies (or whatever it was), Christian’s were, even Pastors, were posting on FB that “Jesus was wrongly convicted and I still followed him”, equating Trump to Jesus. I called them out for it and one person did reply that Trump was pretty close to Jesus.

I appreciate you tackling this argument. It’s difficult when it comes to voting to see all sides of the situation. The “moral” situations such as abortion and lgbtq+ create strong opinions usually, as they are personal to faith and identity. I think it also begs the question of how much government should intervene in society through moral issues. For example, pornography has been brought to court maybe times and has been ruled constitutional because of freedoms American citizens have, and although many see the moral issues with it, how much does the government limit/bound moral values? Holding a standard for ourselves and placing that same standard on others are two different issues. I think that’s a concept we as Christians should continue to explore deeply.
@sivad10255 ай бұрын
Pornography is really an easy issue for Christians though. The courts that have protected pornography greatly abused their power. Licentiousness laws have always existed in this country. Graphic sex is not "speaking" any belief or opinion. It's obviously gravely harmful to the minds of adults and, in particular, teenagers and can only be stopped through government action because the business is so profitable. Even the best of parents aren't able to protect their kids from it. There is zero downside to banning porn since it's completely degrading and immoral on its own merits. And the upside is that you'll save millions of kids from addiction and sexual perversion The whole "liberty" argument is just a smokescreen raised by perverts to keep their hobbies in tact

It seems like way too many christians want just enough change to get things back to their comfort zone. No true repentance and confessing sins and turning from their wicked ways. No purifying their hearts and getting serious about Jesus commands in Matthew. About all His commands regarding mercy, forgiveness from the heart, sheltering the poor, letting go of pride, bitterness and grudges, mourning over sin, and so forth. Being meek and humble. Nope they don't think Jesus could possibly mean what He says and expect all that. Nope All they want is just enough to look good and feel comfortable and keep the status quo in their comfort zones and lukewarm churches. That is exactly what led to the whole mess in the first place. Luke warm lives and only superficial mental assent. Worshipping with the lips but not the hearts. Not surrendering all. Not obeying except when it's easy for us and requires no self sacrifice. And not sacrificing our will when we are tempted and tried. Not submitting except when we find it easy and convenient. That is what led to the fall of society. People want to vote the lesser of two evils and hold signs and so forth because it's easier than God's way. Lukewarm isn't good. Joel 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: 2 chronicles 7 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

If a different cultural narrative is allowed be in a country such as atheist or other religions it will become a crime to be a Christian. Im not sure what it is like in the USA but in the UK preaching the Gospel may soon become hate speech if certain laws get passed. But as Christians become persecuted here i believe there will be a revival, we are starting to see biblical sound churches increase in numbers with more young people coming to know Christ.

For the first question, there are a lot of people who take Roman Catholic ideas and then say they are Christian because Catholicism is part of the Christianity branch. If you ask a lot of Catholics if they are Christians they will say yes, but for me as a Christian, I believe they are not, because of how they believe they obtain salvation. "Good works" and "being a good person" I have heard a lot from my Roman Catholic relatives because it is a big part of their religion.

The Catholic church is the successor of St Peter and carries on the mantle of that apostle - he was given the keys of the kingdom which means the church has had the right to adjudicate on Christian doctrine and decide which practices are legitimate and which not. Protestant and Evangelical Christians are interlopers and are not part of the direct apostolic succession - they were originally sects with no apostolic authority this is why there literally have been hundreds if not thousands of Protestant and Evangelical sects -most based on little or minor things like whether Saturday or Sunday should be the sabbath day, or whether infants can be baptised. Where does all this end? - I myself could start a new sect today -and what is there to stop me? - and I could base it on what supposedly is in the Bible. One needs a divinely appointed institution based on the apostolic succession to determine true doctrine. In the final analysis it was the mainstream or Catholic church that decided what the true biblical canon was in the first place by rejecting the numerous spurious gospels and writings that were floating around the late ancient world. Evangelical and Protestant Christianity has no solid basis .

@@Christine-yr5zd It's ridiculous to suggest that Catholics believe good works earn you heaven. The Council of Trent anathematizes Christians who claim to be saved by works without the grace of God. Mike, Your #1 response is a much needed message. That many Christians consider him “their guy” is frightening. Issues and positions are one thing, and we should spend our votes on things that are, in our culture, the lesser of two evils. But all one need to do in evaluating Mr. Trump, as a believer, is read the two lists in Galatians describing life in the Spirit, and life in the flesh. Just that simple. Which list is his banner is pretty obvious. We believers need to stick to the core gospel message and not throw in our lot with some “personality” - especially one as evaluated by the lists in Galatians 5. It’s a sad state of affairs for the church. Your clear message is timely. As far as politics is concern, we need to break the word down to really understand it. So, “poly” means many, and ticks means blood sucking parasites. Only partially kidding. My allegiance is not to the US, my commitment is to Messiah, and because of that to be a thoughtful citizen of the country.
@sivad10255 ай бұрын
Your allegiance is not to your own country? Yikes. Jesus said to render to Ceasar what is Ceasar's. We have a secondary allegiance to our country. Also, agreed that it's weird to treat Trump as a model Christian. But I think a lot of the "our guy" mentality has to do with the fact that he's at least proud to appeal to Christians and defend our political beliefs. Kamala Harris has all the same character flaws as Trump (including sex scandal) and on top of that hates Christianity and would punish Christians trying to protest abortion. And did you miss my comment about the fact that my only allegiance to Messiah is what commands me to be a thoughtful citizen of the country I happen to have been born in? I think you missed that. And, though it pains me to say it, I think Mr. Trump’s not so much proud to appeal to Christians as much as he sees them as useful idiots for his power base. Don’t get me wrong on several counts, please. I am a Viet Nam veteran, and someone who was not drafted but joined the Army in that era. I pray for you both and you families to be protected, grow in the Lord and His strength and wisdom. I spoke the very same in many areas including "Freedom Relies." I have ALWAYS VOTED...FOR THE "LESSER OF THE TWO EVILS." I spent six years diligently praying for President Trump, his family and all that retained to our country.....literally 10-20 hours A DAY! I was not born here, but lived here for fifty six years! (former muslim and delivered from more than I could ever ever imagine) Love God and love this country! THE God of The Bible! Father, Son and HIS Holy Spirit! I STILL PRAY! Only God is my first love! The Love of my life! I agree with both of you on so many important things. I know well that the constitution is based upon the bible. Our freedoms come from God! Our finding fathers, even the ones not true believers, understood biblical principles and implemented them in our constitution and the way our government was originally set up. ALL IN SCRIPTURE! I believe every single word in God's Word and pray to ALWAYS OBEY Him...IN Jesus's Name! He is my Passion, my Addiction, The Love of my life! I am nothing without Him and my ultimate prayers are: HIS Will not mine be done! Find me ready Lord! Find me Faithful. IN Christ, The Hope Of Glory. SO....here are my two (2) questions: 1. How has the voting for the lesser of two (2) evils worked for us? The excuse, we are not voting for Jesus worked for us? Not holding our leaders accountable, especially the MANY that have professed to be Christians worked for us? 2. HOW can we vote for ANYONE that promote MURDERING BABIES up to 15 weeks? The heart beat starts BEFORE THIS. LIFE STARTS AT CONCEPTION! OR Vote for someone that promotes perversion of the very first covenant God created.....marriage? When did Sodom and Gomorrah become okay for the sake of oil? For lower prices? For so-called freedoms? How HOW HOW can we justify this evil? They say peace peace...then destruction will come! NO! It is not okay to ever again, give my vote to betray my Lord and Savior. NO COUNTRY WAS EVER BLESSED AS THEY WALKED IN THE EVIL confusion, cheap grace and compromise! He is coming back for a spotless Bride, not a mediocre one. Which side will you be on? Stand! And often, you will stand alone! And He is coming soon.

Thank you. People hypocritically support a baby butcher (late term abortions constitute 1.3% of abortions at most, so Trump is ok with 98.7% of abortions, basically) and try to point fingers at people like you who have integrity and pledge allegiance to the Kingdom of Heaven, not Mystery Babylon.

Hi Mike Our church has closed communion. When we come to Christ, we give our testimony of faith to the church, are baptized, and with that comes church membership. Each year before communion the church membership is admonished to consider our lives, address any issues between us and God and/or us and our brother and take care of those things. Then when members come to communion, it is given based on their initial testimony of faith as well as their continued testimony by simply being there, that they are yielding to the continued sanctifying work of the Spirit in their lives.

Am I understanding you correctly, that you're saying you only take communion once per year? Just curious. I haven't ever heard closed communion explained before. 🙂

@@jphjackson I can understand the thinking behind this. I mean, when it was instituted by Christ, it was at Passover, which was a yearly thing so if it’s to commemorate the Passover Lamb, then yearly makes sense. I think in the earliest observances by early Christians it may have been weekly, or even more often, but I can understand the idea behind yearly observance. Our church does it weekly, and prior to becoming Protestant Christian, when I was Catholic and going to daily Mass, it was daily that I received communion. I think it’s interesting to hear all the different ways people observe this and their reasonings behind it. Have a blessed day!

How blind can one get? The previous president's perpetual pettiness, profound pride, plentiful past-and-present perversions, plus pernicious peevishness prove that the persistently preposterous profane prevaricator is a SINNER. Yet he calls himself good. And he says he's "the one who can save America."

@@thirdplace3973 this is why he needs to receive biblical discipleship. One can hope the recent humility he's been showing not only sticks, but it makes him open to godly instruction so that he can learn how to live out genuine godliness. I want him to get to heaven, and to influence his whole family and others to get there too. He just needs to learn how that actually happens for it to be possible.

@@lucyferos205 No it’s not. It’s by faith in the death of Jesus Christ for one’s own sins and His resurrection three days later fulfilling scriptures and receiving Him. Jesus alone by grace alone through faith alone. No amount of good deeds you could ever do would make you sinless and perfect enough to merit eternal life. You cannot redeem yourself from your sins.

Lol, at the two Bible puns near the end. I've never heard of them before: 1. Why did Cain kill his brother? Is it because he was able? 2. Why did Ruth feel bitterness from Joshua? Because Joshua Judges Ruth. 🤣🤣

One of the most blessed moments of my life was Communion at Westminster Abbey which is both a national monument and a working church. I >really< liked the way the minister put it - "if you would be welcome to receive, we are happy to receive you here" Point is he made it clear that this was (a) something extremely imortant to Christians, (b) it connected the Communion to the local congregation, and (c) most importantly making it clear that this was something for CHRISTIANS and that you were required to examine yourself AND THEN PARTAKE. Now for sure there have been other times in the 7 years since then and I spent pretty much the entire time between then and the actual sacrament in prayer. And gave thanks for most of the rest of that day. Bottom line is that he knew he had a mixed group of Christians and non-Christians, he explained what we were about to do in such a way believers were clearly invited, and he made it clear how non-believers became invited to the Lord's table.

LET’s PRAY FOR TRUMP and all in authority who think they understand what Christianity is all about but they don’t. Let’s pray that people who influence Trump would help him understand that what he thinks about gospel is all wrong. May God give opportunity and boldness to us all to preach to others, even those who have rejected “false” gospels but never understood the real one.
