I work in sales/retentions from home for a past few weeks and I think because I feel more relaxed. My conversation rate has gone up. I don't know if that's a reflection on myself or a native working environment.

“A rose 🌹 by any other name” - sales and marketing techniques adapts with the technology- it’s still the same results regardless of by LinkedIn, phone calls, or face to face interactions
@callumhornigold19614 жыл бұрын
I work with C-levels in some of the largest enterprises in the world. While I think Benjamin is a legend, the idea of just phoning them is madness and not at all pragmatic. You’d spend days trying to get to top level on the phone, whereas LinkedIn provides an instant channel to talk to them on a one-to-one basis. In short, if I needed an old school telesales guy who has the dark art mastered, I’d employ Benjamin. Other than that the other gent wins hands down. Update: I agree with Benjamin though. The term social selling is BS. It’s inbound marketing. Selling starts after your first objection.

I think it depends on the exec. I've gotten the CIO of AT&T and Enterprise into sales meetings because I sent them an email. But I've known sales reps that got high level execs because they've used partner relationships. I think phoning can work IF you have the brand recognition. Obviously a call from a fortune 500 exec is going to go through more than a call from some company nobody has ever heard of. Even then, I think Benjamin's strength comes from him acting like he already knows the prospect and that they're expecting his call so that he can get past the gate keepers.
@garychohan49874 жыл бұрын
@ Callum .. That's (respectfully) down to your abilities surely? If you can't call, prospect and move the call forward then yeah message them on LinkedIn like everyone else... And wait for if and when they reply. If my sales team did this they'd drown.. just my opinion
@loft7254 жыл бұрын
And the beauty is that Benjamin has perfected the art of LinkedIn marketing. Useds a message that cold calling isn't dead. 70% of the audience go nuts over this (oh no it isn't... oh yes it is). Runs a couple of A1 videos of cold calling. Spikes in the interest of the masses, gets himself know for cold calling... doesn't have to cold call (to get business, he says himself that he does it to keep sharp)
@Michael-44 жыл бұрын
You need both skills and both tools. It's using the best tool for the job. SN gets you access for better than a call. Once the relationship is there move on to the phone and ftf to agree a deal. You can't do that on LI unless you are selling buttons.

hahaha Ben loving the compliments 😅 I'm in New Zealand and all the F2F companies here have just tried to adapt and find products to cold call on the phones.. but like you said everyone realised theres no need for a boss if they can find a business or someone with a product or something to sell then they can do it themselves.. I'm still looking 😂

Saying which one is better, in this case, is like asking: 'Is Pizza better than burgers?' You might prefer one over the other but they are both great dishes. I think it's about individuals and using your assets at their fullest. If you are better at one instead of the other, just do the one you are better at.

I have to agree with Ben. "Social Selling" is Prospecting. However, although VERY Extremely RARE, sales can occur strictly via social media vehicles.

Insightful video, they don’t differ on too much because they both know what they’re talking about. Most points they make are sensible and agreed with. They’re both clearly great salesmen. Ben is almost certainly better on the phone though I think Daniel is probably more versatile.

My two-penneth.... Like you guys, I also work for myself, and so I can do lots of creative posting on LinkedIn. However... People that work for corporates aren't typically allowed to 'create content' at will, and so if they do post every day (as is commonly recommended), it is usually a re-post of some content from the marketing department (typically, not very engaging or meaningful). Still, this is a good debate to be had. More please...

This interview/battle deserves far more views, but if the title was marketing during lockdown it would likely have 2390432094329043280,93403924390,9340932 views. Why? Because sales means doing the work and marketing (the vast majority believe) is a funnel where leads and make 1 million per month is residual income.

If a book was called "social prospecting" people wouldn't get it. "social selling" is much more clear. Isn't sales/selling effectively an umbrella term for all things salesmen do - even if prospecting and selling are different steps in the process

There’s a huge number of people who are about to take legal action against him, the situation needs a lot more exposure than it currently has because people still don’t know his true back story and are getting themselves into dangerous debt through cunning manipulation and lies .The more you research the guy the more crazy it gets.

I have no doubt that both could give some correct sales advice. The LinkedIn chap Is a fraud. His body language and tone of voice give away that he is acting out. In my experience great (and successful) sales people don’t go into training in the same way billionaires don’t do ‘how to’ courses.

This is not an either/or discussion, use both. To be prospecting on linkedin is not mutually exclusive of cold calling. You go where your prospects are. If some respond over phone, call em, if some prefer social messaging, do it. The "argument" is just clickbait IMO.
