These days, nobody is making those statements louder than Mikey Wright. His new edit, ROCK, was filmed entirely on a chunk of volcanic discharge in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Its name? Oahu. Its role in surfing? Sacred ground, proving ground, and occasional playground.

Its amazing how all but a few shots have no surfers apart from mikey in them. The waves are all famous north shore spots but seem unfamiliar because it feels like mikey was surfing alone. Its a really dope idea and makes this one of the better north shore edits recently (often they seem repetitive).

Nathan Florence was looking at the waves. Shocked, perplexed, unsettled. Because he saw HIMSELF already in the water, surfing huge walls. "I have to quit CBD" said Nathan to himself after a quick reflection. He just thought about it, but he never pronounced the words. i don´t live by the sea and so i´ve never tried to surf. but i´m forever grateful to surfing because skateboarding and snowboarding both emerged from that and those two things are making my life so good, i can´t even find any words to describe how awesome it is. it´s kind of silly because eventually it´s just moving with a plank under your feet, it feels kind of profane that a thing like this is so meaningful. keep on moving.
