I love that in Japan the food quality is so high even in the smaller, hole in the wall type places. Japan is quality food all around. You can just go somewhere and raw dog an egg with rice and know it's quality controlled. We could never in the US.

Been to that buffet - it's a huge chain. Went to the one in Takadanobaba neighborhood of Shinjuku. It was actually very... meh. Been to much better. There's one place I don't know if it's still there in the countryside of Hiroshima Prefecture along the Geibi Line. It's a little ways outside of the city proper but it was perhaps the best yakiniku buffet I've ever been to!

It was something called "The Viking" I THINK (it's been well over 20 years though). It was the first yakiniku place I'd ever been to and it was absolutely amazing. It would've made Stamina Taro seem like a mall McDonalds with only microwaves by comparison.

Am I the only one who is scared of that fryer? Unless they’re using a special dark frying oil it looks like it should have been changed long ago, and it looks like the tempature is too low. The shrimpchips should puff up almost emidiatly. The oil was too cold which results in the chips cooking in there for too long, which results in them looking oily and being unevenly cooked. :/ It might have been done for safety reasons but… then it might not be a good idea to have an open fryer at a do-it-yourself bar without supervision 😅

@OhItsLyric
@OhItsLyric Жыл бұрын
I know that some cultures value "slimy" textured food in the same way we value "crunchy" or "melting" textures. I would also only try this with eggs certified to be safe to consume raw (Mikey said in a recent video that Japan has tiers they rate their eggs in to let you know which ones don't contain whatever bacteria can make you sick. They have machines that test them or something).
@frogdoin
@frogdoin Жыл бұрын
If you really like egg then you would like it. Japan has one of highest food safety regulations in the world which is why you can eat raw egg like then.
@ellerose7263
@ellerose7263 Жыл бұрын
@@frogdoin I don't think he's referring to the safety aspect but more so of a texture thing. I know for me...and I'm extremely adventurous when it comes to food...would not in any way enjoy the "slimy" texture of the raw egg. Maybe just the yolk on its own but not the egg white included.

@AcIsTheName
@AcIsTheName Жыл бұрын
Fairly simple, actually, it's just 3 extra steps to making normal pancakes. Your eggs need to be separated into yolks and whites, the yolks go into the batter like normal. Beat the whites until stiff peaks form, then fold that into the batter, making sure not to overmix so you don't lose the precious air. Proceed to cook at as low a temperature as you can so you don't burn the pancakes (these take longer to cook, as they're much thicker). Also you need molds for these, if you try and make them freeform they'll just bloop down onto your pan.
