This project is certainly more than just about the restoration of an old airplane...it is all about the people who made this happen. People like Jay, Benoit, Ronnie, Trent, and all of the others who have helped along the way. When DTD flies, she will be taken aloft by the lift provided not by wings, but rather by the collective will and dreams of all who helped make it possible. Certainly Mikey, you and Stella have been the heart and soul of this project. I say "Bravo!" to you.

My Dad held USA commerical pilot licence #3350 signed by Orville Wright. That "Plane Savers" is so taken by events they have no memory of, but read, and sought out history of our fore fathers (and mothers) they commit time and treasure out of RESPECT for sacrifices both known and unknown leaves me thinking about the Baton that is being passed. To take something that no others would try to bring back is honorable, To take it and bring it back in such a short time is even more honorable. And to do it with a crew that has never worked together and are made up of mostly volunteers Well that is beyond the call of duty. Mickey, you and the many members of the onsite crew have done what most would never try and turned many years of neglect into a ray of sunshine. I can just imagine Trent and Uncle Ronnie in the cockpit doing the full power run. Light 'em up, get everything nice and warm, then start pushing over the throttles. Listening _really_ hard for bang, clatter, hiccup, miss, and hearing only sweet music. Then Ronnie & Trent look at each other, look at the Manifold - 40 inches - then reach down and push the throttles all the way to the stops. 48 inches on the Manifold, both engines running smooth as can be, and still nothing heard except the voice of DTD announcing "We have power to spare!" I think Trent spoke a lot of truth about the project, and all the volunteers when he said his goodbye. Mikey, I don't know if you took video of the whole 30-35 minute job of easing DTD out of the hanger, but if you did, I hope you'll post it here, or on the web site as a special bonus. A big shout-out too to Curtis, to Air Canada Cargo, to Stella for her midnight ride, to Uncle Ronnie the Walking DC-3 Encylopedia, to Trent for his many talents, notably as tug driver with a stroke of genius, and once again to L''Ecole for the loan of the hangers and so much else besides. Every one of the people there, at Buffalo in Red Deer, and all the Plane Savers volunteers: You are the people who exemplify the very best of Canadian spirit and Canadian character. We hear a lot in the news lately from small-minded, loud-mouthed people. Some restoration projects - not to single out any one in particular - suffer from egos and bickering that detract from the goal. But the Plane Savers community has shown so much commitment from so many "ordinary people" all around the world - people who are really anything but ordinary. The spirit of Plane Savers' rescue of DTD has shown us the "get 'er done" dedication of the volunteers, no matter what their backgrounds. They see the jobs and if it's a job they can do, they do it. The volunteers on this Plane Saver project are real examples of the real people who are the heart and soul and essence of Canada. Plane Savers, you make me proud!

The Navy was still flying some military versions of the DC-7 out of the old NAS South Weymouth back in the late 60’s. Our house was less than a mile off the end of the runway. Even at less than 10 years old “takeoff power” from four round engines makes an impression on you. We could hear them doing run ups clearly. In later years it was P-3 Orion patrol planes (military version of the Electra) so I’m very in tune with those sounds as well!

@@bobbydouzepis8260 they had a few airshows there in the day. Blue Angels were flying A4 Skyhawks (Scooters) at that time. We were used to those as there was an A4 training squadron at the base. Mikey, Give All the Volunteering ENA students an Official letter of Commendation showing the hours they spent helping with the project, it will go great when they hand a resume in for work. Trent.. Awesome job, need I say more. Stella, you are the soul of the project, without you Mikey would be a mess. Marry that boy, he needs a ginger like you. Ronnie you salty guy, the brains. Without you around I fear what would have happened. Question for you... would a DC3 pull your truck (in Neutral, with the steering locked) at full take-off power?

The people involved in this project are the finest kind. Jay and Trent not only technical experts, but thoughtful minds. What role models for the students, and what an inspiration the students and volunteers are for those in the industry. Good luck Benjamin!

Hey Mikey. I’ve been watching episode 100 to the end for the second time. Everybody is so incredible! I think Trent in episode 140 articulated the whole thing the best. What an amazing thing you and your dad did by doing this project. Ill bet for most of them this will be one of the highlights of their lives. To be part of a group with such a single minded purpose is something we all should experience and ill bet would make this world a better place. Great job and love on that girl of yours. Shes special! Cant wait to see more!

What a class act Trent is!!! Its sad to see him go! He brought up so many good points including the negativity of the news etc. and how positive this project has been with everyone working together for one common cause!!!

Another stellar episode Mikey! I will miss Trent and his talents. I hope that he has a smooth trip back to BC. It is great to hear DTD enhancing the audio big time. DTD seems to draw in a talented, dedicated group of individuals. Like Marvis says below, Plane Savers is about the people that take on an incredible challenge to return a plane to the air. As we have all seen, DTD's transformation into a living breating, and soon flying machine. Kudos to the entire team for all of their hard work. Good luck to Benjamin on his exams. It is fantastic to see his passion to be there so early on his exam day.

This real life drama, not manufactured “reality tv”. I like though, that Mikey shows what the challenges are. Guys (gals) are like this in work or war, doing the hard stuff to support their brothers. Also I’m amazed at your video production Mikey. I’m a very amateur KZbinr and it’s dang lucky I don’t have deadlines! Also keep your royalty free music, it’s very appropriate and I’d rather see you save $ for DTD!

There are people that would be hard pressed to park a compact car in that hangar much less moving a DC-3. What a crew!!!
