I love how Ice King is just jamming along until "But I remember that I saw you frown, I swear it wasn't me, it was the crown". That look of concern and confusion at that line, like Simon is just under the surface, having a moment of near lucidity, then right back to jamming as Simon slips back to the depths. Then Marcy seeming to have the same thoughts, leaning forward as he reads that passage, then head back and a single tear when it's clear it's not going to get through to him

the reveal SImon was who gave Marceline Hambo not only explains why she broke with Ash when he sold it but it makes what he did even worse. he didn't jsut sell her childhood toy, he sold her only link to the man who essentially raised her and kept her company in the apocalypse.

The Ending Scene of "The Lich" being foreshadowed in the episode with the Dream World which King Worm Trapped Fin and Jack in has some presentence. Since it's been somewhat theorized that dreams can act a a portal/window into both alternate realities and dimensions.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but one fact about the relationship between Marceline and Ice King this that their voice actors kinda have kind of the similar kind of relationship. Tom Kenny met Olivia Olson as a baby and used to baby sit her. Also Marceline's father is the actual father of Olivia, Martin Olson. I find it cool have they are all connected the same way in both real life and cartoon.

Idk exactly what show started kicked this off (probably gravity falls) but around this time period we saw the lich who can take control of people's bodies, we saw bill cypher who literally scammed dipper out of his body, we had the beast, idk if you've seen over the garden wall so I'll stop there, but at some point a trend of fan arts of the main characters taken over by their bbg's but finn, dipper and wirt in particular were often featured together

Ice King/Simon will forever be my favorite Adventure Time Character. SPOILER Also, he is also a great reason why I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the new Fionna and Cake show. I always feel that Adventure Time is at its best when its about Ice King/Simon and the characters around him. Even the wacky nonsense episodic episodes. Like that episode when the Ice King begs Finn and Jake to make a Bachelorette Party, that episode always made me laugh.

These 2 eps r probably my favourite in s4, which says a lot considering it's a great season. But anyway, the concept of a "dimension" is actually really complex in Adventure Time, as there r many different interconnected types of dimensions. These days the 1st thing that comes to mind is alternative universes, and as we see at the end of s4ep26 that is a thing in this show, but some other examples of dimensions r the Lumpy Space, the Nightosphere and maybe even the Dead Worlds, all of which house important concepts or powerful beings and all of which Finn and Jake have visited before. It is worth mentioning that AT's world building is partially inspired by DnD lore, which canonically has as many variations of the multiverse as there r DMs. U'll see how this all works in Adventure Time in later seasons and shows, but there will still be room for speculation.

The ending of this season is absolutely nuts and so good! Glad you enjoyed these last two episodes, and can't wait to see what you think of season 5!! The Lich is such a good villain both design/story-wise, and seeing him be voiced by the infamous Ron Pearlman makes the performance that much better! Hearing about Marciline and Simons story is so sad, but it's nice we hear Marcilines beautiful voice again though!

I gotta say, i love ice king's reaction after he pushes Marceline, he says "sorry i pushed you" and he gets away from her by not only going to the kitchen but also getting on top of the fridge, it's like something deep inside of that broken mess of a mind recognized he enacted (albeit small) physical violence on her and is compelling him to get out of there before he does something serious I would call it a bout of sanity but that's not it either, if it was that he would have left the house, not climbed the fridge, but perhaps that is as close to a bout of sanity as he can get
