I don't think the romantic type of love is special and I think that the romantic type of love isn't real. More than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely to be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse. Romantic relationships are pointless, while platonic relationships are not.

I was so obsessed with Finnceline as a kid. Half because I was (and still am) a major Marceline simp, and half because I just really liked imagining their journey as a couple (although as a full grown adult who needs to rewatch the entire series, I've forgotten most of what I imagined). Go With Me was actually devastating, as it was probably the first time I'd ever seen an OTP get sunken so thoroughly, but it was easily one of the best episodes of the early seasons anyway. Marceline just didn’t give off those vibes as a love interest however, it’s implied that Marshall Lee in that universe had a thing with Fiona but of course he’s probably going to end up with Prince, gumball or wise. It also seems like Fiona was much older than Phone anyways so I guess since appearance wise, they were closer in age, so that’s probably why they had some type of thing together in their human counterparts. It’s confirmed, but I’m not sure if they had a thing in their land of counterparts, however, is much different, and I never ship them, because Marceline is much different from Marshall Lee. She never really flirted with Finn and even earlier seasons, she kind of somewhat had a thing with Princess bubblegum.

Honestly I just *love* that shows are able to have a situation where a guy and a girl are friends who hang out and nothing happens between them, because every show - *every* show - has to do the “s/he’e not my girlfriend/boyfriend!” but then they fall in love (looking at you Danny Phantom, Ned’s Declassified). Believe it or not it actually made me think that this is how it worked, to the point that when I first got female friend I thought it meant that she was gonna end up as my girlfriend… (and same for the other girls I met later on!) Star and Marco were like this at first, where they hung out and had *great* chemistry together but they were just friends, best friends, and even to me they felt more siblings than lovers, and I absolutely loved it! One thing i love about this show, that I dont see in a lot of other shows is the older Finn gets the more mature his relationship with others become. An example is PB as a 12 and 13 year old Finn crushes on her and does anything to get her attention, even though it was never gonna happen. By the end of the series with Finn being 17 it evolves to a more equal respect mutual friendship. PB kisses finn in the last episode and if it was early season finn he would flip out and faint, now it seems like just two friends who been through a lot and grown to respect each other.

I kinda...stopped watching Adventure Time after the whole, self sabotage with Flame Princess thing lol. So I didn't really see the episodes with Huntress cuz I stopped trying to keep up with it. I never actually cared for or shipped him with Princess Bubblegum. I was more interested in trying to figure out her angle with him and once I thought I had it down lost what lil interest in the ship I had. I really rooted for him and flame princess tho. I thought there should've been a few dozen different magical means for them to safely be together. And before that I did like the theoretical ship of Marceline and Finn as other than the stuff you said, there was also the novelty of getting to see a guy have a vampire love interest instead of the forever staple of a girl with a vampire love interest. I appreciated the switch up honestly. But the way Finn's relationships seemed to be falling apart no matter what and the slow depression he was sinking into was too anxiety inducing for me. I remember I only took a look at the genderbent episodes because my brothers told me it existed at some point and it seemed like a fun concept for the creators to do the genderswap officially instead of the fandom just doing it for lols. I was super into Female Finn as a concept. Fionna, being just as much of a super tough amazing adventurer as Finn and since she seemed a bit older that meant she'd be even more experienced and skilled and I was super onboard to explore that concept. But then they gave an episode focus to Marshall Lee interacting with her and...it was unfair. Completely unfair. 🤌🤌🤌 They gave me a canonically uncanon canon ship in a possible alternate world that I could actually stay on only to give no more content on it. But I'll never let it go. 😭😭😭😭

I have to give adventure time credit. When i was a kid I used to ship rhem because Marceline reminded me of Minda from zelda, Thorn from Scooby Doo with a hit of Raven's daddy issues while Finn reminded me of Link. But as the series went on I quickly got over it and strictly saw them as homies.

Finn and Huntress wizard is the best ship imo. They care about each other enough to stick together, but have a healthy distance to make space for their own adventures, not the most common dinamic but in their case i think it works really well.

I mean..... we do know of at least ONE person in the staff of the show who did ship Finn and Marcy. Coff coff Rebecca coff coff. but in more serious talk... it's kinda wild to me how much of a Shipper Rebecca Sugar is..... Her Finnceline sketches are one thing... But she also made the same kind of sketches with Greg and Pearl from her own show, and given that it's..... HER SHOW....... i just revel and cry at the same time thinking of the very possible scenario where Greg x Pearl could have been a thing xddd. Oh but... talking of the Finnceline ship itself.... im kinda on the same boat, i was also one of those people who shipped them back in the day... and although i got over it and accepted them as friends...... i still enjoy on the though-exercise of imagining them as a couple. This is one of very few cases where the age gap doesn't really bother me.... mainly cuz now i just envision an older and more mature Finn being in that relationship, but also in part thanks to the crazy setting that is the Adventure Time universe and how casual everyone is about messing with butts xddd.

As for the kissiness? I feel like there was still some weird expectations she must've felt as "Vampire QUEEN" in a world that has so many weird expectations of royalty. Princess kisses are a thing you're supposed to give out, you know? If Marceline is trying to figure out if she actually wants to engage a bit with society for the first time in a long time- with the Candy Kingdom's champion, no less -she could maybe have felt like she might have needed to try some princess shit sometimes before dropping that bs. Aaaaand there's some definite differences in bodily expression with Marcy as a part demon, part vampire, than as a human, too.

Marceline, Flame Princess and Huntress Wizard were some of the best characters of the show. Outside of PB, Finn had great taste lol. While I wish Flame Princess was the endgame, Huntress Wizard was a great (potential based on Fionna and Cake) endgame. Also of course farm Finn even got with a version of Huntress Wizard. Loved that he had Marceline as a friend still, but PB was still a bad friend for more than half the show lol, she didn't help half the time

my favorite has to be huntress wizard. mostly because finn's atitude with her around is the closest to him with jake. with pb, he acts like a dumb kid that's ordered around, while with fp he acts very mundane and mushy. it's probably because he matured a TON before meeting huntress wizard( It's *right* after hall of egress)
