To be honest , I do not find anything in common between Alexander and Carrie, and I was surprised he pursued her given the ignorance she showed off the bat ( that phone scene alone , I had second hand embarrassment of how Carrie behaved because some one with an accent called her, how condescending ) He is a sensitive, smart, cultured, creative and a man of few words and is brutally honest , these are qualities that you appreciate in a man as you grow older. Carrie on the other hand is materialistic, shallow and cynical and does not know what romance and proper courting is if it hits her in the face. It is sad how the show portrayed his character in later episodes to prepare for Big’s return into Carrie’s life. But true, the man who matches her ( in all her imperfections) is Big, not Alexander ( nor Aidan for that matter). These two “deserve” each other.
