I feel like you should explain a bit more why the final position is lost - sure, white gets a queen but so does black after 1 ...Rxg5 2. Kxg5 d3 3. g7 d2 4. g8Q d1Q. We all know that queen vs queen endgames can be difficult to win (even with an extra pawn), however white has the move 5. Qb3+ forcing a trade of queens and leaving white with an easily winning K+P endgame.

The whole sequence of moves throughout the game gives the impression of having been calculated almost from the beginning, but it's so complicated, with seemingly disparate and isolated pieces interacting in critical ways at the end. I barely play chess, but it's clear even to uneducated eyes like mine that something magical was going on when Tal played.
