i really, really love this song and mikito-p. as someone who deals with lots of mental problems especially during summer, it hits close to home :’) especially the “you’re my friend” thank you for translating it, as always

The lyrics are pretty damn dark to be sure… is the implication that she had a crush who bullied her, and she died somehow from it, and that crush perhaps regrets what they did? Also, the distortion at the end sounded like, based on the picture, someone had been run over by a train 0-0

Yeah you're pretty spot on. The song is about 2 friends. One has a crush on the other. She wanted her friend's love and affection so, she then made people bully her so she would keep coming back to her for comfort. Eventually things take a bad turn and her crush commits suicide by jumping in front of a train. She obviously didn't want this to happen.

The very last line "you were just transparent and pointed at me" basically means that the girl feels that she caused her friend's death. (In japanese folklore if you cause somebody's death, that person's ghost will appear and point at you) The train sound at the end implies that she couldn't take the guilt anymore and took her own life in the same way as her friend.

one of the lines i’ve had the most struggle interpreting is from 2:20-2:25, mostly because of the “skirt” line. i always thought it implied the girl who died was sexually harassed but i could be wrong bc it doesn’t make much sense in the song? what do you guys interpret the lines as?

strwbrryblush Those few lines specifically are hard to interpret due to the multiple implications that are given. It does seem that her *crush* is bullying her in some way, so the implication of a love interest could mean that she sexually assaulted her even. It could also just be plain bullying, as she could have been grasping her skirt in fear or anger while sitting in the classroom, or she could have gotten beaten up and her skirt was torn. Overall it’s kinda up to you to decide what you think fits best with how you interpret the song here, it’s just one of those things. 🤔 She could have been sexually harassed, I don’t think that’s to far off to assume based on the theme of this song. I hope that was helpful in some way. 😅
