I’m using talk to text so don’t mind that. I’m 40 and I grew up in the 90s watching the same Disney movies over and over again and I think that’s why I like your videos so much. Every Mike review is kind of the same only different for that mic. I feel like I have to watch it all the way through to see you do the things that you do. It’s satisfying and I suppose I learn a lot.

I liked the MikTek best in omni. It sounded quite flat as compared to all other patterns which were brighter than I like. Today’s musical adventure was very, very special. Like opening track of the record special. You took off into some adventurous harmony and the resolves back to the root key were 👌🏽. Seriously WOW!

I tried to play along - but "uuuh " some of those stretches .. maybe we will see a classical guitar in your hands soon, I think some parts of your music pointed that way. The Review: Your consistency is king - I can go back and forth between the different reviews and get a very good idea about the Mics!

I agree with your comments regarding the sibilance requiring a desser. I know it's a pricing issue, but it is a pity that with a little more fine tuning in the factory this could be so easily overcome. And this is a common issue amongst so many mics. Stick on a pop filter or wind screen and plosives (another common issue) is taken care of. The MK300 does otherwise sound quite nice once the EQ gods do their thing. Another great review, Bandrew. Thanks mate.

Here’s the deal my fellow audio peeps. Everyone’s gonna have an opinion on the Frequency response to their ears. The overriding factor in this debate is whether or not this microphone does what it does with clarity, presence, definition and variety of applications for all applications! When viewed like that… this mic knocks it otta the park! Concentrate on what they are giving you for your investment! A LOT!! For me and what I do, I love the default crisp especially for voice overs and vocals. If I want less, it takes a nanosecond to adjust like you would any mixing decision! I would recommend a pair so your ready to meet any challenge! One more thing… if you’re just starting out with a home studio and you can afford only one mic… this is the one!

Great video, thank you very much, Bandrew! All those features are impressive for the price. I don't like the sound of the MK300, though. There is too much low-end. It's quite sibilent, but at the same time, the upper frequencies seem to lack detail and definition.

I got an old microphone that I think is a random cheap brand that looks almost exactly like this, but it's metal in color (gray). I got it really cheap from a local musician and it was my first XLR microphone. When I got it, I searched for the name, but found nothing. On it it says *_TSM_* with almost like a simplified rocket as logo. The model is *_MT87s Mk II._*

Would you use RODE N2 or RODE Procaster just for voiceovers?
@Podcastage3 ай бұрын
I don’t know what the rode N2 is. I’ll assume you mean NT2a. If you have a little bit of treatment and are doing professional voice overs, then NT2a. If you like the condenser sound then NT2a. The procaster has good background noise rejection so if you’re in more of an untreated space, that will do a better job at rejecting that.
@bpfoley893 ай бұрын
I completely agree on the sibilance. It did sound good with the guitars. Probably wouldn't put it near any symbols. For my money, I'd probably go with the x1a or the NT1 if we're just going by the comparisons in the video.

Hey Bandrew! Thanks for your videos… I spent all day watching mic videos yesterday and I am just not sure what to do still. I am wondering if you have any suggestions? I am a starter with audio but I am a quick learner. I am creating meditation mp3s which I want to have a professional sound quality. My room is untreated and I have around £300 max to spend on my whole set up. What would you suggest? P.s I am thinking about buying the Samson q2u but worried it won’t sound professional enough. I was also trying to buy the q9u but seems to be out of stock everywhere. Then thinking about MV7+ but for the price I think I could get a better sound quality on XLR. I am open to trying XLR if you think I could do a lot better with my price range. Thanks, Amy xx

Seems like the MK300 makes your mouth clicks very audible.. Like at 5:18 .. I can't find a "tips for less mouth noises" type of video on your channel. Do you have anything like that? Thanks for the reviews!
@rtosborne421 күн бұрын
Hi, audiobook recording engineer here 👋🏻 2 easy fixes for mouth clicks: water and/or a green apple. Something about the sour acidity does the trick. Try a couple of slices; you don’t need the whole thing usually.
@CleverFix21 күн бұрын
@@rtosborne4 Thanks, yes I've been taking bites out of an apple when clicks start to happen. It only lasts a few minutes though. Water doesn't help much. The Audacity de-click plugin helps to remove them manually, but it's so tedious to select each click, and adjust the settings properly. I just got a decent recording done, speaking slower and with less volume peaks. If I try to speak faster than I would normally, I end up with volume peaks and more clicks, so I think technique may also minimize clicks.
@rtosborne421 күн бұрын
@@CleverFix Yeah, slowing down is critical too. You may know this already, but you could try some vocal warmups before you start or during breaks. What you eat before you record can have an impact as well; a lot of pro narrators won’t drink coffee before they’re on-mic as it can dry out the mouth, for example. Just don’t give up on the water - more is almost always better! And I hope you find the techniques that work for you!

greetings from a blind subscriber here in the Philippines! I have a TC helicon mic mechanic 2 pedal which allows me easy tactile access to FX and DSP processing. but sadly it has 24 volts always-on phantom power, and not 48 volts. planning on buying an SM7DB for my untreated bedroom. I was fortunate enough to use its predecessor back when I was still in college and a door the sound and headroom it has on my extreme vocals. will the 24 volts phantom power of the TCMM2 affect the the SM7DB set to +18 and +28dB gain? as a second option I could also purchase an SM7B alongside a Triton Fethead/sE Dynamite (Cloud lifter is not available in my country). how would the 24 volts phantom power of the TCMM2 affect this setup? stay happy healthy and more power to you.

I doubt he will respond as that's a big question. What mic are you currently using? What's your budget? What's your preffered tone etc? He did a Dynamic mic comparison video 4 years ago titled: All Broadcast Dynamic Mic Comparison (Versus Series). He has pretty much done every dynamic mic released since then and compares them to the popular 1's. He also has a good video on diminishing returns when increasing your spend. Thomann website has a good "Brodcast Microphone" section. Maybe come up with shortlist. The staples like the SM7B, EV RE20, RODE Broadcaster, Sennheiser MK4 & MK8, Neuman BCM705 are all good choices in the $300 to $700 price range. Byond that the EV RE27 or Neumann BCM104 are good choices around $1000.

@@kevc6115 thanks for the reply. Some great info there. I’m still using a Rode Podmic with a DBX mic preamp. It sounds ok, but a bit tinny. I’ve got quite a sibilant voice too, so it’s not the best mic for that (although I do have a de-esser on the preamp which helps). My budget could extend to around £600 pounds (I think that’s about 700 US) if I can get a mic I’ll use for years. I would like a dynamic as I can’t really sound treat my home. I won’t be recording music etc, purely for video voiceover work for podcasts and KZbin videos. Once again, thanks mate, Appreciate your time and help.

@StarWarsJay The Sm7b is pretty much the standard. just make sure to avoid the fakes, there's a lot around. but before forking out, are you using a pop filter and or windsock? and are you doing any processing after (gating, dessing,compression and eq)? oh and just wondering if your room is acoustically treated. that can make things sound tinny straight away. Tbh, you can make a sm57 sound great treated right

Hello! You don't know me & have zero reason to read this comment. I am sending it with zero expectations but would still like you to hear what I have to say. For someone who is just looking to upgrade to his first big boy mic, as someone who is moving away to college and would like my friends to have a pleasant experience when we queue up together over discord, I look to reviews, to hear what other people have to say before dropping(what is to me) a considerable amount of money[My current mic is a 40$ headset lmao]. I found you and your channel exceedingly easily, and congratulations on that, genuinely, you are at the top of field. But I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. FFS you are setting your gain to noon. I do not know what that means, I am just a normal guy approaching a subject I know nothing about. Now, I don't have the arrogance to believe I'm the first person to be in my position, so I do believe there is a real market, that you can capitalize on, for explaining the basics of mics & sound. That's pretty much all I have to say, with one small note. If you don't vibe with that recomendation, then could you please(in an attempt to help out others in my situation), in your next sub 400$ (or whatever price range you consider 'first big boy mic' to be) shoutout the channel "Sound Speeds" and their 2 part "Audio Basics" series. After trying and failing to understand mic basics by reading some pdf'ed manuals, I eventually landed on his page. In a simple and entertaining manner, he was able to provide me a real understanding of the basics. And he was able to do that well enough to embolden me to come back to your channel and have the audacity to ask this of you. Thank you for the reviews, they have been helpful, even if I'm new to everything you talk about. I understand you have a lot of recommendations from a half a decade ago for beginner mics(Like, thanks to your flowchart, I know I want a cardiod condenser mic, I just don't know what that is), but it owuld be nice to understand the logic behind it all (I am coming from your Shure MV7x Podcast Mic Review vid from 2 years ago but am commenting here to increase the odds of my comment being read).
