If someone - relative of not - pulled this crap exactly this way at our early meetings (say, three meet ups) I'd have tore them several new orifices. But this is the FROG SOUP scenario, plus narcs tend to do it in a way to acclimate you to their abusive ways. If their your parent, you would grow up seeing this as normal. My mom had narcissistic tendencies, but they weren't directed at me, so I could see it for what it was - which helped me deal with my narcissistic FIL and BIL. Not everyone has a strong sense of self or can easily stand up to others (and good manners stop us from punching them out. We'll, that and fear of arrest) or are as lucky as you and me, who can see them for what they are and call them out on it.

The couple was fortunate to have a pregnancy after so long and it's total craziness to think that someone would say "hey you had 3 - give me one so I don't have to bother with the process". Twins are tough for new parents ... triplets add the burden. I doubt normal people would determine her efforts as unfit. OPs husband has problematic behaviors. This family collectively appears to not really know how to raise and/or handle children. The parents did a piss poor job of raising their kids both OP Husband and SIL. OP's husband's actions are described that he's basically a doormat and looks for for an easy way out even if it's to avoid everything and pretend it's not happening. Wonder what kind of parent he'll actually be. The SIL got off too easy for kidnapping. It wasn't a spontaneous event, but a planned action. Hopefully OP got a multi-year restraining order on the SIL and install cameras inside and outside the home. If you have crazy relatives and/or crazy friends, surveillance options are more a necessity than nicety.

Society tells women and men that your wife should give you babies and you should be giving babies to your family and your husband even though it has gotten better it’s still an issue. I would do the following: 1. Start recording from the moment Witch 1 (the "mother") left my room. 2. Move out even if I had to take out a loan. 3. Scorched Earth their existence. The recording would have been shared on all my Social Media accounts. 4. Restraining Order on Witch 1 and Witch 2. 5. Any babysitter would get a full background check. 6. Cameras inside and outside of any place I live.

When a friend of mine, who works at a hospital, got pregnant with her first baby her coworker asked if she and her boyfriend were married yet. When my friend said no, the coworker started talking about her sister and her husband and how they can’t have kids. My friend said she was sorry for her sister and left the conversation. The next day, coworker brought her sister to the hospital and she thanked op for letting them adopt her baby and started rubbing her belly. My friend smacked her hand 🖐️ before she touched her and shouted that she said no such thing, sister started crying and coworker shouted that ‘she was doing op a favor from being a single mother’. My friend reported her to HR, thankfully that there were witnesses but to make sure that coworker didn’t try to steal the baby, my friend gave birth at a different hospital.

Also, keep a calendar with dates times and details of the interaction. Let CPS know that these less than humans are trying to steal, yes, steal your baby. Trust me, they are going to call CPS on you. Next, get locks on all the doors and a doorbell camera. DO NOT open the door to them talk thru the camera. Makesure all windows and doors are locked at night. Did Rena even try to soothe the children? Nope, because Mia is just an accessory to her. Contact baby companies about donations of diapers and formula. They often give a one time donations to multiple births. SHAME ON MARK for abandoning you and his children after the funeral. It's not your fault!
