I'm looking to put a longer 24 inch light weight bar on my 455 , doing a muffler mod ,what do you think about a cylinder base gasket delete? And any suggestions for a light weight bar ? Thank you for the video.
@cajun3197 Жыл бұрын
I like your approach. Less grinding more gain. Easy to lose power hard to gain. Best to keep it basic for something like this
@dubbssawshop Жыл бұрын
Thank you man. That's exactly what I was trying to accomplish on this build. Hard to drop the cylinder on these if you go a bit to far lol.

I took the intake down a touch and took the muffler apart. Then took the transfers down to the divider. I need a popup lol. But it won't run right for some reason.
@dubbssawshop Жыл бұрын
Luckily this muffler was a open can, couldn't believe that. I think the problem with these is the super small transfer caps, just isn't alot for volume there.

The 455 is the Chevy 350 of chainsaws.
@BrandonBigB9565 ай бұрын
They used to be cheap so made good sense to get them. Back when I bought my three they were $350 a piece and that came with 3 extra chains. Now they are $550 and for that better options are available for a little more and have a professional grade saw

Does it run any better with all the mods as say a 460 would run out of the box? Or bout equal now? The 460 responds really well to mods. All I’ve done is add a pipe instead of mod to the original muffler and you can tell n throttle response.
@dubbssawshop10 ай бұрын
It's probably close to a stock 460 but will fall a bit short on torque. It's definitely worth the effort and work but it's as far as I'd go on one. 👍🏻 The MM is one if the biggest improvements to do to these.

What pipe or mm is best for the 460
@jeremyfortune72746 ай бұрын
@@tmac6593 they sell a real simple Ironhorse style pipe on eBay that I have and it works. It will be louder and noise is not power but in this case that pipe works!

Nice, my 460 has some tweeking on the horizen. The husqvana manual says to start from 2.5 turns on the high and 1.5 turns on the low. Had me stumped when I replaced a piston and couldn't get it to run.

I've got a 455 w/ just a muffler and tune. 24" full comp and it is a little ripper for its size. One day I'll open her up and play on the inside. But for now, it doesn't have any issues for 4yrs running so I will leave it alone lol
@zeromark202 Жыл бұрын
Did you remove muffler baffle inside? Really not to bad for performance, definitely has more torque! My 460 rancher can’t lean on it as hard or bogs with the 24” bar. That muffler mod sounds great!

honest opinion friend; i have my dad's older 455. is it worth the pop up piston and mild port work? go with the 460 jug and piston? on a 1 to 10 ; 10 being awesome, what increase in performance did you get? thanks. JB
@dubbssawshop Жыл бұрын
In my opinion if it isn't a new saw like this one, I would go with the 460 set up, now granted if the cylinder is good on the 455 then the pop up and mild port work will definitely net gains along with a muffler mod and timing advance. I'd say a 7 out of 10. But more displacement with the 460 kit would probably be better especially if modded. If I had to guess I'd say 15% gains over stock with the 455 work. Definitely not the best gains vs work but does really help. Claimshell saws Definitely require more work to do, just because you have to the whole saw apart just to get to anything.
