I'm 44 years of age. I lived in Syracuse from January 1991 to June 1999 from Binghamton. So much memories good and bad times but I will always and forever love Syracuse. Im originally born from Brooklyn NY but now I'm living here in Miami, Florida. Syracuse and Miami are 2 different lifestyle cities. Syracuse is small simple and quiet, but Miami is huge loud and vibrant city that doesn't sleep. But I missed the beautiful and simplicity of Syracuse. The last I visited there was in 2004 to visit old friends from high school, so about 20 years ago and alot has changed, old friends from high school (William Nottingham HS Class of '99) have moved on long ago but my love for the 'Cuse will never change.

If you were to go straight here, and taken the left road at the fork, you would've run right into the upside down traffic light 16:13

This is really cool- love that you were here while the tree and decorations in Clinton Square were still up. It's like a nice little Syracuse time capsule. Thanks for sharing!

0:25 The skinny building with the white van in front, 537-539 N Salina, was a pasta shop originally with the owner's apt above. I lived there briefly. Second floor is LR, kitchen, lav, stacked laundry in a closet. Top floor has two bedrooms & a full bath in the middle with a skylight. I can still hear the basketballs bouncing off the wall in the CYO next door. The narrowest building in Syracuse but a great little home. Francesca's next door has it now.

Great video. Takes me back to when I took the city bus to OCC, then university hill. The bus station is no longer at the corner of fayette/salina streets but it still looks similar. Most of the businesses downtown look well maintained.

Yep, that's my home town! Born and raised and know every nook & cranny of it. Lovely, typical overcast/dreary day...like i remember it. Moved to the sunny south 45 years ago....and no regrets. That's why i call it Zero-cuse....the weather sucks and there's not much going on.

I lived in Syracuse all my life just seeing you drive through downtown brings me back to my high school days taking the centro bus to school the corners you passed where chase bank and use to be Rite Aid were the 2 main Centro bus stops i don’t know if they still are I haven’t taken a Centro bus since 2005 after I got out of high school and the city is pretty empty must be the weekend in this video.

Where is all the people? City after city looks deserted ! There was a time when there was a big hustle and bustle throughout cities all across the country! Downtown streets stayed busy. Now you can drive 5 city blocks and see maybe 5 people!

It is usually below 0 temperature outside during winter months here, even with no snow, it's like Chicago, we all sit in coffee shops, homes or offices, lol

My guess is the video was recorded on a Sunday, because even the bus hub is dead, that ONLY happens on Sundays.
@dbyers38978 ай бұрын
The description says filmed in November 2023. A Sunday or maybe Thanksgiving? Even now, downtown is usually quite busy on a business day. Just not a good busy sometimes. The 'Cuse was a great town to grow up in back 50 years ago. Slow & steady decline since then. Most of the industry moved away with the better paying jobs & so many malls opened that the city was gutted as far as retail. Destiny is turning ghetto like the whole Northside. CNY, including most of Onondaga County, still beautiful though. Only a short drive to the Finger Lakes, Dacks & Lake Ontario. NYC, Montreal, & Toronto are all about 4-5 hours drive.

There isn't much change to the way downtown looks now as far as people are in October of 2024
