I'm sorry if you've have been in extremely bad schools, but that should definitely not influence your outlook on what you think most schools are. Where I was at, I'd say the overwhelming majority of teachers genuinely cared. Several of them even cried at graduation because they had to say goodbye. Either way though, that doesn't really change anything. Care or not, why not just avoid suspicion either way? Why go the route that will 10000% arouse suspicion if the person in question would care?
