It’s not that hard if you cheese it tbh. Considering the easy asf infinites you can do with Sol. You can even infinite Volcanic Viper in the corner and it’s not even strictly timed. Another obnoxious infinite is his dash kick infinite when (you guessed it!) you literally just tap forward 2 times and kick because this game is so broken that EVERYTHING OTG’s.

God this game is so so broken it’s incredible, like just check out the wiki and learn about all the busted shit. Overheads that whiff on crouching characters, Ky’s instant kill chains into itself on block and ya know instantly kills on hit, and if they cancel the instant kill on hit it still has enough stun to combo into another instant kill. Justice’s literally everything but especially the full screen unavoidable laser that combos into itself on block or hit. Tons of moves have random invulnerability frames, 0 recovery or both. There’s so much more and it’s hilarious, genuinely the most broken game I’ve ever seen and it’s not close lmao

Oh also regarding there being no RC, that’s true; however there are taunt cancels which allow you to cancel all recovery from any move at basically any time. That's kind of an important plot point when it comes to Faust. It's something he feels guilt over and they leaned a little towards that persona in Strive, allthough this Faust lacks the psycho energy that he had as Baldhead. He looks depressed now more than anything, like he's reached his breaking point.

GG1 is so completely jank and busted. I remember seeing ads for it in Gamepro and Tips and Tricks and thought it looked amazing. I didn't actually play it until years later after i had already played GGX and XX, going back to this game was hilarious and jarring to say the least. It has it's own charm tho admittedly. A nice easter egg is Andy, Terry, and Joe FAR in the background on Axel's stage. That was a nod to SNK. On a side note: Potemkin's theme in this one is one of my favorite themes in the entire series.

Man, every time Max complains about +R Justice it makes me sad. What you need to remember is that +R is the only game where Justice is legal and she was DEEP NERFED. That is not Justice. That is Punished Justice. They should have redone her sprite to be smoking and missing one arm because that's how hard she was nerfed. Basically Boss Justice is a high speed rushdown character, Punished Justice is a zoner because they took away EVERYTHING (and she's STILL too good).

One of the things you must have in mind with this game is the instant-kill command, you will constantly have to do the reversed command to set yourself free from those against the AI whenever the screen turns red (funny how in GGXX Accent Core Plus instead you have to tap 3 directions to get free or lose a round when that happens, plus, that's pretty much the easiest way to see Dizzy's instant kill in the game... yeah, because of how the instant-kill command is to perform, is very unlikely to see Dizzy's one under normal conditions).

I first heard of this game when it came on a ps1 demo disk from the Playstation Underground subscription service. They had a bunch of demos coming down the pipeline and then a couple of Japanese import games that made you reset the system when it was done because the Playstations in Japan worked different. Or so they said. I was solidly into SF by this point and when I played the demo of this game, it blew my mind. Everything about it seemed so different. You could only play Sol or Ky and the stage was that grand stairway level with the blood red carpet. I was constantly resetting my system and sitting through all the loading times just to get another match. The 3-5 minutes it took to load everything especially sucked when the AI used an insta-kill on me 15 seconds into round 1. I never saw it again until I stumbled across a copy of GGXX at a friend's house. I've kept tabs on the game ever since.

Used to like Testament's theme in this game. Back in this game, characters had moves that they could charge (up to a max of 3). That's what Baiken was doing in the first part.

I actually prefer Baiken's artstyle from that game rather than Strive. It kinda reminds me of "Sword of the Immortal" manga, which is my number 2 favourite manga right after "Monster".

I had a similar experience with my introduction to GG. I heard the soundtrack, and got it burned to a CD before I had even found a copy of the game. A few months after that my bestie found a copy of GGX at a flea market and the rest is history.

Well Max you are correct, when I fought her for the first time on Samurai Shodown she did one of the scariest thing I wasn't expecting that she gonna parry it as Galford I land a super special move once and she immediately read my soul and counter it. Next she lands two special moves twice and I got my cheeks clap.

Baiken has an alternate color.the dark orange one. It resembles Kenshin Himura on his Manslaying days. Thats why I loved Baikrn ever since. And in GGX midnight carnival the game has a Story intro showing a Glimpse of Japan being destroyed by Gears and a young Baiken bleeding from her right Eye. This for me gave off a stronger Main character vibes in Baiken as she has the Active role in chasing the Gear maker. GG is my fave because of Baiken. And now that she is back.."Praise be"

GG1 was definitely different in many ways (Square jawed Ky, etc). Baiken began her life as a female Kenshin (her GG1 design being the revolution era, GGX/XX main series), And as much as games back then were "busted", GG1 was a prime offender, though in a way it shows its SNK roots. There's a number of things I do miss from this era that didn't make the leap to 3d. No, low life super spam and how easy match ending IKs are to do aren't what i meant, but rather Testament's general character concept with posion/etc. (Xrd onwards seems to go with mainly rather straight forward characters) The Leap from GG to GGX character wasn't the biggest... particularly compared from GGX2 to Xrd
