T5 just aged so well. For a game that game out early 2004. There's so much love put in the game, the music is in my opinion is some of the best in the series. Ground Zero funk is super underrated and honestly is the perfect OST for the Mishima/kazama feud. Jinpachi is still the best final boss cause he actually was an interesting character, giving more insight into mishimas past. The main thing that I appericate about this game is the roster. There was a decent amount. They brought back legacy characters (tag tournament is more a fan service scenario) and made them fun to play with.

One thing that i always like to point out when talking T5 is how it did everything right and managed to be the success it is despite all odds. It came after a failure both commercial and in public perception with T4, and did so in an era where other FGs were IN THE GUTTER after the golden era of the 90's. Neither SF nor KoF were doing well, MK was doing OK in its 3D era and only VF could be considered a success, but in the mid 2000's T5 was a powerhouse

I was failing school, trying to fit in somewhere, was getting into petty and pointless fights, arguing with everyone even though I was wrong. It was bad. But this game. Really saved me. I bought this game with my own money, from mowing lawns and getting allowance in March of 2005. Saved up enough money and decided to buy this game. And it helped me through those rough stages. Instead of fighting in real life, I was taking my aggression out on virtual characters. I did eventually start passing my classes, maybe that had nothing to do with Tekken 5, but in so many ways this game helped me. All-time favorite Tekken game.

The gameplay felt more realistic too. Call me a boomer but I liked the chippy jabby fights rather than jugglefests T8 pushes for. T8 plays more like MVC2, fun game but not what I play Tekken for. I totally get they have to innovative and mix it up, Tekken 7 had a good balance I feel but T8 really rubs me the wrong way. I wanted to try learn Paul but he looks like a creepy crackhead now with a Karen haircut. Law having nunchucks is a cool idea but the excessive amout of chains and the roids are just over the top stupid. Yes Tekken has always had over the top stuff in it but the characters felt relatively grounded save like 4 wacky characters.

tekken 8 ai its pretty bad.. the single player its not as good a tekken 5,, so i don't think it will.. also the game is so far beyond to what it used to be,, i don't like the new battle systems,, supers,, heat,, all of that ,, ,,, i rather play old school pure tekken 5
@albertocordobesrodriguez82969 ай бұрын
@@etherealsoul1773 a valid opinion, personally I loved all the new mechanics, it feels refreshing and exciting and I can’t see a bad AI, but it’s possible, I’m not an expert player neither.
@etherealsoul17739 ай бұрын
@@albertocordobesrodriguez8296 i refer to how the ai is when playing single player modes,, tekken 5 ultra hard was actually challenging, you didn't need online back them to have fun with the game,, cause the games as a package did offer you a full expencience .. tekken 8 ultra hard is a joke,, there is no challenge there,, online is basically the only option and its sad,,as a casual the Ai to me is very important .. tekken 7 started the trend of having bad ai on tekken games,, on 6 and before it was great

@@etherealsoul1773Ehh, I kinda feel like Tekken needed some supers, and like some meter stuff like heat in some way. Especially to freshen it up. That's just me though.

Tekken 5 was the first Tekken I played in arcades. I previously played Tekken 1 and 3 on my PSX so going to T5 was so different to me at the time. Also, I know Yoshi is usually low tier in games but he felt great in 5. Loved playing as Yoshi.

This is where I found my main and actually started learning the game. Great music, great visuals, great Bryan laugh... I freakin love T5 man.

I was obsessed with tekken 4 for years still kinda am so the way its regarded to amongst the greater community is always so jarring

I hate the fact that the only time Namco tried to do something fresh and risky with Tekken 4, it had such a huge backlash, that after success of T5 they refused to ever change anything at all and the rest of the games feel like T5.2, T5.3 etc. Even "get ready for the next battle" screens are still the same 20 years after. But T5 was iconic for sure.

Tekken 4 has some cool impact feeling from hits, I don't know how to put it, like, every hit in combo feels separate, thats why I personally prefer T4 gameplay.

I remember always having a PS2 controller in my backpack when I went to the mall so I could plug it into the arcade cabinet (since I couldn't ever get joysticks to do what I wanted as well as pad). Good times!

Tekken 5 DR on the PSP is genuinely one of the best games ever made.. Basically a full upgraded Tekken 5 game on the go made my childhood so much better.. I played Tekken 5 on PS2 many years later and it didn't hit the same, the soundtrack and missing characters felt so off

So many memories with this game, my older sister bought this game for me and the darn disc was missing so we had to go back and get another copy at a walmart, mind you this was early 2000s walmart and this game was the main game displayed, freaking game was worth the trouble lmao

Tekken 3 was my intro to Tekken growing up, but Tekken 5 was THE Tekken for me. My mother bought it for my birthday and I sunk so many hours into that game. The graphics were crazy for the time. I miss this era in gaming.

Funnily enough, Tekken 5 was my very first Tekken. Saw an ad for it on the back of Xenosaga Episode 2's instruction booklet, and then found it SOMEWHERE by chance. Once i got it, i remember playing it all day every single day. It's easily my favorite of all the Tekken games.

The music and stages also hit a high point not heard and seen since. Wish they had gotten the same music producers for 8. It's an epic soundtrack.

Imagine being 5 years old going to daycare on a weekend being all sad because there’s nothing to do, and no other kids are there. Then one of the sitter’s teenage son walks in with his friends and a PS2. You’re a good noodle, so you get to hang with the big kids and you’re blessed to witness Tekken 5 for the first time. From that day forward every time he brings his ps2 you and him play for hours. You then convince your dad to get the game for yourself but, you forgot you don’t own a memory card. You then go and unlock every Character 3 times before you eventually get a card. I’m 24 this year and it brings a tear to know that one faithful day impacted my love for fighting games.
