Most people need to realize that Jinpachi doesn't have the devil gene. He had been possessed by an evil spirit after he died.

burgerkingJ Well, kinda. The original story was, in fact, about Jinpachi and the devil gene (Harada never said anything about that "spirit" that is supposed to "possess" Jinpachi at the start of T5 until a few years ago). But years later, they started creating the plot for what it would be Tekken 7 and they thought that they needed something to finish the story of the Mishima bloodline. With Jinpachi dead and Heihachi not having the gene, they created Kazumi and placed her as the origin of the gene. So nowadays, the ones who played Tekken 5 back when it was released know that Jinpachi had indeed the devil gene, but Harada created a new canon for everyone else in which Kazumi is the origin of the gene and Jinpachi was just possessed. Some people think that maybe this was planned since the launch of T5, but in the ending of Jinpachi that you can unlock (and is about how he cannot control his power anymore and gets a new, more powerful form) in the Theatre Mode, it is said, and I quote: "Jinpachi's mind is consumed by the devil as he reaches his final transformation. The world will never be the same." So yes, in the original story Jinpachi had the devil gene, but if we are talking about the current timeline and plot, you're completely right, it is beacuse of the spirit. Eitherway, I think Jinpachi was a really cool final boss, no matter what the plot was 😆

The reason why the developers changed Jin moveset was because they influenced his story a bit. In essence, Jin rejects the Mishima bloodline. Actually, since Tekken 4, he really wanted no part of his father's side of the family, only focusing on Jun and creating a "new start" to his training by going to a karate master to learn a new style. Yeah, he still retains a few core basics of the Mishima style, but also incorporates a few of his mother's moves and the karate that he learned, hence how he changed since T4. Devil Jin, however, is all about raw power, thus he goes back to using the Mishima martial arts just based on straight destruction, like Devil Kazuya.

Or they realize his fighting style was a copy and paste of two characters and not really original. Even then being the son of those characters didn't add anything special or charismatic. Changing his style with the story excuse was a nice decision.

I think this is where Jin became a awesome lead character, he finally has his own style instead of being a clone. The visuals, the edgy attitude, etc.. Cheesy, but cool. Also, he had a whole 3d "adventure" of his own, solid controls even on that mode. Tekken 5 is definitely the franchise best.

Max, the reason Jin has a different moveset from Devil Jin is because after being betrayed by Heihachi in Tekken 3 he trains in traditional karate and abandons Kazama-style karate to symbolize that he's disowning his family. When he transforms into Devil-Jin he reverts back to Kazama style, because he isn't completely in control of himself anymore. Whether it's to do with the Kazama blood in him or because it's a more vicious style is up for debate.

You mean the Mishima style, the Kazama style is what Jun and Asuka use. Jin never learned the Kazama style because he didn't become a fighter until after Jun "died," and Heihachi took him in and trained him under the Mishima style.

Tekken is a weird game if you really think about it. We got guys that kill people with dance moves, an orphan wrestler that refuses to take off his jaguar mark, an Aztec Akuma basically, a FUCKING KUN FU BEAR AND A PANDA, a ninja alien thing that apparently isn't an alien, a 400lb man with the reflexes of a god, a bunch of robot people, a dude that can turn into a demon because it's in his genes, and everyone being able to understand each other despite them speaking different languages. And let's not forget them Giant Purple Rat Gods. Good shit man. Great game.

Well, the reason Jin doesn't have his Tekken 3 moveset is because he didn't want any relations to the Mishima family, so he learns traditional Karate to unlearn the Mishima style in Tekken 4 and onwards, but Devil Jin is all about power and destruction, so he has the Mishima style moveset

As the very first Tekken game I actually played, Tekken 5 holds a special place in my heart. (yeah, I started way too late, sorry guys) But in all honesty, what captivated me more about Tekken wasn't only the gameplay, but also the stories. The way they presented Rival scenes in this game, with dialogues and interactions, plus everybody (well, most people) speaking their own language and shit... Damn! I loved this game, and I wanted to learn more! Which is why I was saddened to know that, in the prievious titles, there wasn't much lore told to you in the games themselves, aside from Tekken 4. When I discovered Jun Kazama, who fights pretty much like Asuka and who is none other than Jin's mom, I wanted to learn more about her SO MUCH! But, Arcade version of Tekken 2 present in this game didn't even give me the ending cutscenes. :( I was a desperate teen for quite a while.

They should have kept Eddy's old moves that are unchanged from Tekken 3, but adding the new ones, while Christie has the changed moves. For example, Eddy keeps the old 3 (a mid front kick, now the second hit of back+3,forward) while Christie gets the new 3,4 combo (a big circle kick with a spin roundhouse kick combo).

Soulcalibur 2, Tekken 3 and Tekken 5. That's my childhood right there. Soulcalibur 2 on my cousin's Gamecube, Tekken 3 on an Arcade machine and Tekken 5 on my ps2.
