One thing I think gets lost when rating costumes is ironically how they fit the character. Barakas default does seem plain, but the dude has spines as shoulder straps. It's simple, but Baraka is a simple warrior. Mileena's costumes are overly sexy, because that's at the base of her character. Her face is ugly, so she flaunts her body to attract people. Just 2 examples, but I could go more in depth with many others. Sometimes it's the little things, that make costumes better, other times they make them worse.

Tanya's costumes are at least a 7. It was a good return that made her more intimidating with than her MK4 appearance.

When it comes to designs, you need to find the right balance. Less is more so one shouldn't overdesign a character but you can't make it too basic otherwise, it won't stick for a lot of folks. I've seen some cool yet overdesigned characters (and Mega Evolved Pokemon) so I can get Max's "Simple" logic. LOL

Tanya is actually Ed Boon's 3D era favourite character. Tanya wasn't really a fan favourite. The real fan favourite 3D era characters is (not include Kenshi because he has his chance already) actually Fujin, Reiko, Ashrah and Havik. This are 3D era characters that always got up everytime fans want to see 3D era characters return back.

Li Mei was always my favorite new character from the 3d era, alongside Kenshi. She'd fit pretty well in newer installments if they use skins like her alternate in this, her sleeveless kimono from Deadly Alliance and her appearance in MKX. You can actually hack/mod in Shujinko's younger self as a playable character and he has 'pain'/fatality audio like going 'no no NO!!!' for Scorpion/Kira/Sub-Zero's fatalities. I think they reason they didn't add him in is because they didn't want Scorpion ripping the spine of what is essentially a teenage boy out. Same reasoning as to why you perform the fatalities on Torr and not Ferra.

To this day, Mileena's alt costume was one of my faves, only taken over by her default in 9 simply because it's great and for some reason I thought they were both the same until I came back to Deception recently; it was honestly one of my fave Krypt unlockable back in the day. As for Sub-Zero, makes sense that the best Sub-Zero design (Sub-Shredder) gets mixed with the worst one, being the whole Genie Ninja, which it may make sense, but I thought it was too weird, especially when his ending doesn't have him shed his armor but rather embrace it.

They could bring in chaos and order realms to the story instead of heavily focusing on outworld and earthrealm. Plus havik was my favorite character in deception.

heres the thing about mortal kombat, number 1 sucked but it was a revolution in gaming. 2 & 3 were good. 4-8 were all terrible, 9 was fantastic, 10 was okay. Mortal kombat is mostly held so highly because of that revolution it caused, if it were judged purely off the quality of the games it would not have made it to 11

Uh.... "pushes up glasses" , technically Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei aren't ninjas. They are a league if specialist assassins with a Chinese origin. Sub-zero looking like that is actually closer to what he should based on what their background is. I like his look in Mk11 since it blends Chinese asecthics with the classic Mortal Kombat "ninja". The only actual ninja is Scorpion. Also an assassin isn't technically someone who is stealthy, it is just a specialist hit man of sorts or someone who fights using a deadly art. For instance, Kenshiro from Fist if the Northstar used an assassination martial art but he isn't stealthy at all. Just saying.
