I mean after you leave Rocket Town and destroy his plane, he's basically all in with the crew, so I think people are reading too much into the Shera part of his story as if that's Cid, when in reality the Cid during the Shera story is the dark side of Cid.

12:30 min what i noticed about the Nibelheim section is that you can open a world map from the „past“ which was from the flashback Intro sequence. And if you look closely you can see that Shinra had rebuild both bridges leading to the reactor. The one that collapsed when Cloud and Tifa were kids and the one from the flashback. I thought this was an insane level of detail! Because you don’t actually see them, only if you compare the maps!

51:40 regarding Cid's new personality; I theorize that he's only putting on a front: being nice and accommodating to the pretty girl; but in Part 3 as the stresses pile on his facade will break down and he'll start to curse up a storm more and more until Barret has to be the one to calm him down. I expect that in part 3, Cid will smoke ONE cigarette, and it'll be at a key moment of his character development.

Matt nailed it indeed (his scenes are great too, very funny at times) and I was a bit anxious as I really like Vincent (and seeing how i played the original back when it first came out (and replayed it), this game (and FF VI) is a big part of my life as a gamer, so I had pretty high standards). I really like Vincent's previous voice actor usually (truly awesome as Cyrus, Zoltan Kulle, Starscream and a ton of others) but I never found him to be the right fit for Vincent - love the guy's voice, it's hella cool but it lends itself to harder, more cruel characters than Vincent IMO. Matt however was absolute perfection. I'm extremely grateful that they managed to cast the right voice actor for each role in Remake/Rebirth, some of those voice actors (and the better writing) made me love characters I didn't like as much before (Barret e.g., what a cool dude, in the original I didn't dislike him but he really won here, way cooler now). Couldn't tell you which I found to be the best update but they all rock. I hope Cid gets to be a bit more abrasive in the next one. I like the Woody Harrelson-esque voice tho! Had to get used to a voice change in one of the characters at first but I adapted quickly and learned to love that too, despite not liking it at first as I found the first voice "cool". But it's hella cute. "heeey guys, it's me!"

Its such a stark contrast to some behind the scenes American productions in AAA game design where you can tell its just a job and theyre just trying to maximize the amount of money they can make while balancing making a product people will like just enough to spend more money on it. This team clearly comes from the old days when games were made to inspire feelings and portray real art and passion. They have a huge budget, sure, and in the end theyre making a product that needs to make money, but you can tell thats not the driving force behind their decisions. I like how in the original Nibelheim flashback Sephiroth feels like this untouchable paragon of skill and power that really shows just what kind of danger it is that the party is up against In Rebirth, though (at least for those who experienced the original), we know what he is ultimately capable of already so it's a lot more focused on humanizing Sephiroth to the player to really hammer home the tragedy that is this folk hero turning into this nightmare of a villain for the world

This behind the scenes stuff was really so great because you really see why the game delivered so well. The whole time they're talking about literally anything, you're nodding along and just saying, "Yep. Yep. Yep." Like, they GET it. They knew what they wanted with this game, they had a passion for it, and most important of all they had leadership that let their visions flourish. I think Remake was great for tackling the mere concept of reestablishing what FFVII could be. But Rebirth was, to me, where they got their light bulb over their head moment of understanding what made VII resonate so strongly with people and how they could conceptually just expand on it to deliver a more fulfilling experience.

What you said at around 6:35… I had that exact feeling in Rebirth the first time we were released in the open grasslands. I wandered around uhh whats that and wow whats here. I did all this before we got that thing from chadley 😂 from that Moment on it was a lot more guided and scripted. For the third part I would wish for a map like Elden Ring which only shows you stuff on the map after you found and explored it. Thats why I loved the find treasure thingies in rebirth because you just stumple upon them
@akira_kei_4 ай бұрын
I'm so glad they focused on the map in this game. Final Fantasy had drifted away from it because they could fulfill the same technical needs differently, but it's the experiential aspect of traveling on a map that makes it so much better. That's why even the fairly basic maps of the classic games were so fun. I'll never forget opening the map in FF1 and seeing a whole other continent that I couldn't get to yet. The map was what instantly drew my curiosity for adventure when I first played the original Dragon Warrior for NES too. For me, the map is the key to the feeling of adventure and wonder when playing RPGs.

I'm going to say this, and I don't know if Max reads these or if anyone will read this. But I heard Max state that Rebirth was way too end heavy with information and it should have been spread out. I just want to say, this game was one of the most realistic tellings of life I've seen. Let me preface this by saying I lost my grandmother who I was dearly close to three weeks ago. So playing FFVII:RB and going through loss really amplified it for me. But it also put the game in perspective for me. Life doesn't owe you your own personal happiness. Sometimes life can be hard and usually it comes in giant waves. The amount of information is dumped on us quickly and life isn't biased with it. In Rebirth, if you go through the globe trotting you're basically going through life. There are chunks of time where it's side quest and biome building until you get a key portion of the reality that is, no matter what they just did, no matter who they just saved or helped with their town or monster problems, there is one inevitability. They have to face down the end. The massive amount of information dumped on the character was a crisis dump. It was intentional in my mind and how everyone is feeling after the ending of Rebirth, the "What's next? What does this mean?", is the exact same way all of the group felt getting on the Bronco. I also saw a lot of Star Wars in this but if you truly look at it, they are making Cloud more like Froto. Go watch the trauma and dissociation Froto goes through carrying that burden. Eventually it leads to Froto wanting to move on because he's exhausted. What I'd really like to see is at the beginning of Part 3 they have a dream sequence of Tifa or Cloud asleep on the plane and they show the burial of Aerith that they didn't show in Rebirth. Either way all will be answered in time but just like life, we don't always get those answers when we need them. Things I'd love to see improve in Part 3 are as follows: A full Day/Night cycle. Secret hard to find dungeons and abandoned towns or sectors visible armor and accessory changes on characters Job system like the gambit system in FF XII

Yeah I had a similar idea. Aerith's death is different from the OG purpose. They both represent different realities of death. The original shows what death and grief is like for a person who has a stable life. Rebirth is showing grief from the perspective of a person who is unstable. It's chaotic, jarring, confusing, life altering, and feels like you got hit by a dump truck.

IF they actually go for the route of Cloud accepting that she died and show the full scene i will be happy but most of the dialogue in the final battle and the last scene hint more at the timeline have been split when Cloud deflected Sephiroth's attack and for some reason Cloud's mind is between both timelines because of Lifestream shenanigans.

@@renren47618 I think it's both/and. Yes, Cloud is somehow living in + perceiving both realities at once-the one where Aerith lives and the one where she dies. But the rift in the sky that he sees is, IMO, an indication that the reality where Aerith lives is fated to fade away (like the one Zack is in, where everyone is preparing for the end of the world). She is dead in the prime timeline; she's alive in a separate, doomed timeline. That's why I think eventually, Cloud WILL have to say a final goodbye to her, and we'll get that pool burial scene and a whole lot more ...

I wish I could ask the localization team why they changed certain names (especially Limit Break names) away from what they were in the original game. In Japanese, Climhazzard is "Climhazzard" and not "Ascension". It makes it even stranger when you realize that the majority stayed the same, Cross-Slash and Finishing Touch for example. So why _just_ Climhazzard?

This game is truly massive if you take your time with it. 100 hrs might be an under estimation. My playtime already exceeding 100 hrs but still haven't finished, because have to learn and retry mini-games/battles etc.

“Zack’s voice really warmed-up on throughout this game.” Couldn’t agree more. Never thought I’d say that, given how much I loved his OG voice, but damn…it did, and Caleb’s absolute optimism, passion, and goffiness, really cemented it. If that’s not Zach embodied, I don’t know what is 🙂(especially this younger version, than something like AC)🙂

33:46 i think he meant that dyne wasn't very sympathetic in the original. In the original dyne says he is gonna kill Marlene and then himself.

@@petebagwell6666because there’s so much shit to do. I don’t understand how people can call this game bad. Video games are supposed to be fun not an overly critical masterpiece (which this game is) but the whole game is fun, hilarious, challenging and makes you love its world and characters. What more do you want from a game. Like look at QUEEEENNNSSS BLOOD 😭😭

This game felt like I had jumped into a portal with chrono and ended up in..... don't know nineteen ninety neverland ? I've become a huge fan of yours after watching your Play through with the first and second part of this world they uniting finally I feel since high school(2003-07). I have, however, found myself taken back to the roots of square soft. Especially with this rebirth story, so I've been playing a lot of final fantasy II or IV (wherever you're from) lately. Because it seems like a very strong theme in this games getting deeper.

it might not always lead to home runs like Rebirth, but it's pretty remarkable just how much raw respect and adoration JP creatives still have when working with "classic" and/or "iconic" stories and franchises, especially the younger ones who are coming in fresh, wanting to honor the material more than use it to prove themselves or as a simple career stepping stone while i'm sure most western players played in English, the JP voice talent brought their S+++ game, and you can tell that all of them relish in demonstrating just how much they've grown (as actors and people) in the 19 years since Advent Children

I'm probably going to comment this a couple times, but my theory is that the party and cloud are existing in two different timelines, when they turn up at the entrance of the alter, only Cloud passes through the barrier, signifying Cloud passing into the timeline where he saves Aerith, the rest of the party remaining in the timeline where Aerith dies. When the moment where Aerith dies comes about and Cloud deflects the sword, this is the moment where Sephiroth begins to merge them and the timelines are almost flickering between eachother, this seems to me why Clouds distortions are flickering between his current reality where Aerith is alive and the reality where she died and he is giving his speech from the OG, where as Tifas distortions are experiencing Aerith being alive when in her reality there is blood everywhere and Aerith is dead. When Sephiroth merges them, the two realities become one, so you have the party coexisting in one space with two seperate realities, Clouds reality where he saves Aerith and the parties reality where Aerith died both existing at the same time. I don't think we are always looking at things from Clouds perspective. Which is why Aerith seems to pop in and out of reality, but only during the in game cutscenes. When they go to leave the water, Cloud stands with Aerith beside him, at this point we are with Cloud's perspective (His reality where Aerith is alive) As soon as he says 'Tifa come on' we switch to Tifas perspective (Her reality where she died) and Aerith isn't there even though you can see Cloud acknowledging Aerith is there next to him. Both timelines are coexisting at once. I could comment more on the other things but I'm trying not to ramble like an incoherent psychopath.
