she went through a lot of trauma and hate, everyone was judging her for being her and nobody paid attention to her talent. but she is still here, giving her best, growing and evolving. thank you, miley, for being so strong human being and spending 15 years on stage and giving so much energy to your every performance. you helped me when i lost my dad and was in depression, you and your songs helped me to go through it, especially your song "inspired" and "karen don't be sad" helped me when i was feeling like giving up on my life. you're special and unique, as you say "don't let them win" and follow your heart. there are always people who love you and appreciate you. always. p.s.maybe if you listen to her actual self-written music that she wrote during suffering with depression, where she sings "death, take me with you, i don't wanna live...", you would think twice before sending hate to her. she's a human being. this world needs her kind heart and open soul and insane talent. i hope she knows she's not alone and that she's loved.

Honestly it was bcuz she was shaking her butt and the naked wrecking ball thing. I was beyond annoyed with her music then. I was someone who kinda got turned off by her music then. Then she came out with Malibu and the other hits after that and I was like wow she finally found herself! She isn’t oversexualizing herself and seems more happy and content.. then it kept getting better after that. I grew up with Hannah Montana as well. But yah I’ve been really enjoying Miley the past year since she has gotten into this rock scene thing. It’s super good!

"It reminds me not to take things for granted. I mean, breathing - that was something none of them could do, the most basic thing," she told Harper's Bazaar. I’ve liked her ever since “Can’t Be Tamed,” and even through her unfortunate wild years I still couldn’t write her off completely. I saw her Backyard Sessions rendition of “Jolene” years ago, so I’ve known she has a better voice than she’s often given credit for, but seeing her do rock covers more recently has reminded me of that and made me realize just how under-utilized her voice is doing standard pop fare. She belongs in country or rock. Her voice has matured nicely and has such great texture to it now. It just hit me with this video now that all the rock covers she’s been doing more recently may be part of a campaign tied to her upcoming album to give her more credibility as a rock singer in the public eye before it comes out, since she plans to go that direction with the album. If so, it’s totally working for me. I’ve wanted a rock album from her ever since I heard her do “Black Dog.” She’s been sprinkling rock covers throughout her sets all throughout her career though, so maybe it’s not part of a bigger plan. But if her team is doing an extra push with it now for the new album, kudos to them for some well executed PR/marketing.

@Illaria Credi Thanks for your reply :) I also LOVE YN and it really made me see just how incredible Miley is as a singer/songwriter. I agree, as a young creative person she has tried so much, but arguably, that is part of becoming an artist notably when you truly are brilliant, as she is, it is about growing up, making mistakes, but eventually finding what is meaningful and a good fit. Personally, I LOVE this mature, rock, gritty Miley she has become, these covers are garnering so, so much respect from younger audiences, adults, reviews and for such good reason. I really do value your view and we all have our unique experiences to music and performers. All I know is that for me, Miley is a true Icon, truly talented and her sound is not like ANYTHING I have heard, she is raising the bar so much to ANYTHING this currently out there, out of all the pop stars, Miley is a unique voice, a unique performer, and also get a sense that this mature Miley who is releasing this current body of work is here to stay in some form. @@suvamhangsubba9662 sure, her cover of Jolene is a great place to start and then Tom Petty's Wildflower is a beautiful rendition. Don't Dream It's Over, Lilac Wine, Happy Together, Wish You Were Here, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go (great Bob Dylan tune) 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Landslide (lots of great covers of this and Miley nails it too) Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, New York State of Mind, Baby I'm in The Mood For Love (another great Dylan song) Heart Of Glass. Here's the thing, some covers, of course are better than others, but she takes a chance as an artist and commits to her version. That's what won me over, watching her grow as an artist and not be afraid to take chances or rest on her teen star status. I've not seen such pleasure and understanding a from a singer in so many forms of music, you're not eclectic till you appreciate it all, What we are listening to is the voice a person who loves music with an atomic gift to express it like I've not seen for a long time puts you in the same room as Aretha , gladys and Etta.

This song has plucked the heartstrings of listeners since Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder gave it to the world twenty-four years ago. A lot of great covers have followed--an assured sign of its timeless greatness. But this version by Miley rises like purified mountain air. It rises and lifts to gale force strength and then settles as gently as marigold petals. It draws long-held emotions to the forefront, and Miley, please know that it allows a seventy-one year-old man to weep unashamedly at its beauty. Thank you for the gift.
