This song seems to be deeply rooted with people who have lost a loved one, particularly to cancer. It's heartbreaking to read of all the loss but it's beautiful we can all be bonded by such a beautiful work of art.

And as time goes on, I find myslf searching for it each time I learn something new especially after some harrowing experience life throws at me. It gives me hope and faith to just keep on going. I lost my son last year. Pearl Jam was his favorite bad of all time. He even named his dog Eddie. I bought every Pearl Jam concert ticket ever when they came to Vancouver, B.C. for him. This song just nails it and he loved it. One year on Xmas day he was down stairs and I ran downstairs and told him Pearl Jam was on TV playing live. He bolted upstairs and to his surprise Eddie wasn't on TV but there was a new Fender Telecaster and Fender amp sitting in front of the TV. He didn't even notice it at 1st he was too busy looking for Pearl Jam. True story. I miss my son :(

Every time I got in the car to drive to or from the hospital, it was playing and so, when we released my father's ashes, we played it then too. Now, whenever I hear this song, it is a bittersweet memory of my father. I am with you all that has lost a parent/sibling/significant other and find solice in this amazing piece of music........Because of this song, people from all races, genders and classes come together in the act of sharing our grief. Isnt it beautiful or what huh?! We must though, remind ourselves of the living....the ones our deceased beloved worked so hard to care for, in order to leave the world in a better place than they left it. We live in a world today so divided, disconnected, self destructive and cruel. Spread the love that your beloved gave you...... Let optemism and faith that those before us taught us to guide you today and tomorrow. You grieve just like your neighbour grieves. You hurt just as your neighbour hurts We love just as our neighbour does. We are all one. As I grieve for my dad, I send a loving hug to you as you grieve your own.

Hi guys. I really feel for those who have been touched by death or suicide and this song reminds them. I have tried to kill myself a few times. I have an eight year old daughter. I hope I don’t try again. I remember coming across a post that said ‘it’s ok if all you do today is just breathe.’ Pearl Jam is like coming home for me. I wouldn’t have stayed alive and sane without music.
