Enjoyed this video. As you guys know, I'm a new collector. Watching videos about collecting and also my long term research into World War 2 history, made me decide to start collecting. I had been watching your videos as well as other channels and heard a lot about dealers who knowingly passed off fake or reproduction items as original. After watching all the Militaria Review videos and hearing him mention the Military Collectibles Shop as good trustworthy dealers in several of his videos, I decided to give you guys a try. As of right now, you are the only ones I have bought from. It's really reassuring to know you have someone you can trust to be honest. I look forward to doing more business with you two and also learning more from you as well.

Thanks Darren- We appreciate having you as a customer and fellow collector! We were lucky in Milwaukee to have Bill "Scotty" Scott have a shop in the 80's-90's, and he taught us the long term values of honesty and being fair to people. So many in this hobby don't know or don't care (or are outright shysters). We are always happy to help out- even if you aren't buying from us!

Well done interview. Interesting subject matter on fakes and repro items. Established collectors should always share their knowledge and encourage new interest thru historical reference so the hobby can grow with folks starting out. Young collectors are the future.

Great interview with MilitariaReview. Thanks to listening to this on his channel, I learned about your shop. I placed an order recently for some German WWI items, can't wait for them to arrive and add to my display!

Thank you- as we like to say "we are only renting this stuff for a while" - it is really important to be able to share the stories and artifacts with the future generations.

Thanks, we sold out of our Iron Crosses the week that Militaria Review mentioned us having them at fair prices!

Very interesting interview. The problem of fake military items probably started back after the Civil War when everyone wanted Confederate buttons, buckles, swords, etc. A man named Francis Bannerman who owned a salvage business bought US cannons, rifled muskets, brass insignias, uniforms, canteens, and anything that the government had declared to be surplus, he bought it. Among the things he bought were the original dies for Confederate uniform buttons and buckles. Soon after the war, the demand for Confederate items was huge. Bannerman started churning out copies of the buttons and buckles using the original dies. He mounted these on cardboard and sold them as souvenirs not genuine items. However, over the years the buttons and buckles were kept and passed down, but the cards they were mounted on were thrown away. That is why you can't really trust anything being sold as Confederate. Bannerman had so many Civil War cannons that when the US government started making all the battlefield parks, they had to buy the cannons from Bannerman to put in these parks. Towns all over the country bought cannons from him to put in their parks or cemeteries. I read a book back in the 1980s that said that after WW2 the demand for Nazi items was so great that factories in Italy started turning out copies of Nazi items to sell to GIs.

I image after the 3rd battle of Carthage, back in Rome they were selling "Carthaginian" relics that were less than original to the tourists....

I like to use the analogy that collecting stamps doesn't make me a mailman. Most people who collect have a better understanding of the true horrors and atrocities of the nazi regime than the people who are complaining about people collecting it.
